i wouldn't recommend anything to prince since he's a grown man who,
despite of his fame and history, seems to be quite "together" imo. i can't believe i just said that but i guess it's true and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Personally I really don't believe in shrinks and I don't think therapy should be recommended to anyone, unless the person in question feels the need to ungero therapy. love the one who is Love!

Sure. I was wondering whether a therapeutic space for personal introspection may benefit Prince in helping him become more aware of 'the why' and 'the how' he has come to be and whether increasing this awareness may in turn aid his creativity and sense of personal freedom...

I should imagine that Prince thinks of Larry Graham as being his personal therapist. There's Joy In Expatriation.

I'd like to ask why you don't "believe in shrinks". I understand that there seems, on the face of it, a massive rise in people who "need" therapy, almost as if it's a fad of some sort, but the work a psychologist or therapist can do is of great benefit. We're all insecure about something. I agree therapy should be a voluntary act on the part of the patient (for want of a better phrase), but I reckon you'd be surprised at what can be achieved through it. So look into the mirror, do u recognise some1? Is it who u always hoped u would become, when u were young?

I think that'd be a little presumptuous. Don't you? We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Therapy...I suppose is the difference between, a doctor that is going to charge you to converse with, and a friend that has a little more insight on your life already...
I believe in looking for a solid ground or moral absolute to stand on when searching your own spirit, which I believe is a daily activity for everyone. I believe that looking for love within is always beneficial, and There are professionals that could definitely help. I also believe in the idea...that if therapy is not an idea someone wishes to consider...A local Community College offers psychology classes that are disciplined unto it's own curriculum, However, can be very insighful into the understanding of the brain...and the spirit's connection to this organ... Psychology is an intricate weave, between the cards that have been dealt to the individual player, and the player's reaction to the game. People's minds can break when their spirit's are broken or tattered...Medication should be used as a temporary tool, and in no way relied upon as an answer to a root search. The disappointment I learned when seeking professional advice, is that, several opinions, favored, labeling someone as bi-polar...(The extreme emotional range)...and...try to convince the patient of a lifetime challenge...Instead of delivering a positive hope...by treating an emotional hurdle, as a temporary place you are passing through on your journey. Mental Illness is not for life! Some people become drawn into the system...and that in itself is a professional disorder. "The Lion Sleeps Tonight...

Sure. I was wondering whether a therapeutic space for personal introspection may benefit Prince in helping him become more aware of 'the why' and 'the how' he has come to be and whether increasing this awareness may in turn aid his creativity and sense of personal freedom... Prince has done this before, looked for personal answers and that is reflected in the album the gold experience, i quote from the review printed on the accompanying leaflet within the CD, penned by Jim Walsh, pop music critic, St. Paul Pioneer Press, January 1995. "...Above all, wants it known that this is a record about the fight for freedom - personal, artistic, political - but anyone with half an ear can suss that much out. During the making of it, he was enarmoured with Betty Eadie's book 'Embraced by the light', a first-person narrative on near-death experience, and that theme also peppers the record, most explicitly in the reincarnation dream 'dolphin'. It is also implicit on several other tracks that ponder birth, life, death, and rebirth, and one man's own expectations and perceptions of himself. It might sound hokey, but to me, 'The Gold Experience' is about process. The kind of processes that dont happen overnight, or to overnight sensations. It is about panning for gold and coming up with mud, and getting back down on your hands and knees and panning some more. It is about, if you will, 'hard work'. Psycho babble and pure groovability aside, the most fascinating aspect about these 12 songs is that they come from a human being who, like you and me, struggles day in and day out, but unlike you and me, does so in a very public forum. And that public flailing makes the music - which too often gets obscured by the flailing itself - somehow resonate even deeper, and transcend the confines of good beats and hit-making. It is the sound of an artist at odds with himself, his world, his past, his present and future. Who woul've guessed that such a sound could be this big, bad, and joyful? More than anything, throughout my own 'Gold' experience, I heard a unique, and uniquely potent, mix of purpose, celebration, and fear. there is a palpable sense of urgency here, as if knows that time is running out for all of us to make connections with ourselves and the outside world. Don't believe me? Listen to the scream in the middle of 'Endorphinmachine' or the guitar solo on 'Gold' that concludes the album. The two things they share are desperation and liberation. Listen, Cue 'em up, back to back, Hear it? He isn't showing off, he's searching. Again. And like never before." This review is actually six pages long and fabulous no wonder Prince included it with the lyrics he obviously realised this guy ' got him'. Apologies to Jim Walsh for not quoting him in his entirity. So when Prince originally said he was going to have some time off last year - I believe him. All artists have to have solitude for inspiration and talking to other people doesnt necessarily help that process. So in answer to the original post no I dont think he should seek any help, i think he already has found some solace and comfort in his faith mingled with his intellect of his soul searching from years gone by. And Tame as usual you seem to be on the same wave length as me - beautiful words! [Edited 2/29/08 7:19am] walk with crooked shoes www.myspace/syblepurplelishous

Uh, no because personally, I don't know him. Now, some of us on here needs to look in a mirror and recommend themselves to undergo personal therapy...Gosh, some of you people think yall know him personally when yall never have met him so yall's idea on how he really is is very untrue. I think yall should stop judging him, and get therapy to stop the confusion within yourselves. Um... let me warm up my vocals

No.
If Prince is unhappy with something he will address it. And seek his own help. He has friends that he relies on and God. I guess what people may not understand is whay Prince does what he does and why. The reason are his business and none of mine or anyones concern. Prince seems to have made a world for himself he can live within. And he seems pretty happy to me. Plus Prince in many ways is a genius. And therapy can be a ticky. If Prince got a bad therapist, it could do more harm than good. I guess my question is why do you think he needs therapy? Do you think something is wrong with Prince?

as prince lays on the couch and closes his eyes..chilli hops on top on him and saying as she lays blows after blows "what the fuck do u mean i can't show my bloody tatoo online" man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

No. We have a lil bit of the crazies and issues. I mean, if he wanted to I would think that something else is going on with him. Besides, he goes into therapy sessions with God and thru his music. No? &
