I reckon as Kate Bush does the backing vocals the clue might be there.

On her 1989 album the Sensual World (which is beautiful by the way) she had a song called Deeper Understanding which was about a lonely woman's relationship with her computer.

Maybe My Computer was Prince's attempt at a re-write.

That's funny Tangey, I was thinkin the same exact thing yesterday. I was listenin to the song, I was sayin to myself 'what a good video this song would have meade. He's such a good storyteller, you can't help but to picture in your mind, everything he describes in the song.

I think Prince is just like all of us. He has his boring days or nights, when we probably surfs the web. I've been there...

I love the song..he catches the melancholy of scanning the computer on those when one cant sleep or whatever, just trying to find some contact in the nothingness of 2 a.m. It was Sunday night, instead of doing what I usually do etc..love that shit.

Mu favourite song on Emancipation, it should have been a single, with a cool video (P + Kate together) it would have been a hit.

My Computer is an excellent little ditty. Works very well alongside all the different styles of music on disc 3.

In fact, I dig all 3cds of Emancipation. Most folk say it all has a similar vibe and you can't really differentiate between most of the songs but that's kinda what I like about it

I absolutely love this song too. Its just a pleasant song to listen to, especially when you've had a hard day. Its even a bigger bonus when only 2 tracks away is "the love we make" another classic!

I like the song very much. It's very Cute and Perky. What was Prince thinking? Maybe he was Lonely and just wanted somebody to talk to. Bored,lonely like that.
