Is Prince greedy? Prince had Jill Jones' videos pulled from youtube.He also had everything about him pulled from youtube. His internet site has never been something one would want to go to. He wants and wants and all he gives us is "Planet Earth". Prince seems too greedy. Does he not remember writing "slave" on his own face? Perhaps that's how Jill Jones feels and maybe some other people Prince has helped in the past. | |

Greedy. Self-absorbed. Narrow-minded. Short-sighted. Vindictive. An asshole. A control freak. Paranoid. A tool. Many words can be used to describe him. It's a shame that "musically relevant" is no longer one of them.

Theoretically, his greed should be a reason why he wants his videos to stay online, since it's a form of free advertising.
Greed isn't the reason why Prince is doing all this; the fact that he's a narcissistic control freak probably is. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

There is no evidence whatsoever that Prince intended to deny Jill the right to promote herself by using the video. All Prince related material is being pulled from youtube. If Jill had gotten a 'cease and desist' letter or something, that would be different. But it's reasonable that WebSherrif had it pulled totally unaware that Jill herself was linking to it. | |

He's no more greedy than any other musician.
Maybe he doesn't see Youtube as free advertising, because no one on Youtube actually "buys" anything. As far as him being a control freak. He's only controlling over HIS work. I don't think this is about money. He's got plenty of money. Afterall, he's given his music away for free numerous times. I made a comment on one of the threads here this week that I thought Prince was greedy but when I thought about what I said and then thought about what Prince has done in the last several years, I realized that I think I've confused it with Control. He's much more controlling then greedy. If he was really greedy, he's probably promote his work way more than he does and do things like commercials, which I for one would not mind.
But one thing is sure, he does seem to make compromises when money is involved. Prince has been playing to more birthday parties in the last year or 2 then I've ever seen him do before. I know he was getting paid a pretty penny doing those shows but I don't know how he can reconcile doing a birthday party and not celebrating one himself considering what his faith teaches on that kind of subject. It's not for me to know and he will always do what he does but it's an interesting thought nonetheless. [Edited 3/5/08 8:30am] I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince".
