I think that's The Chocolate Invasion you're talking about. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

iv been listening to it more lately and have realised its a great album...very tight with a few great tracks, particularly the first half of the cd. The Slaughterhouse and The Chocolate Invasion are both FABULOUS albums!!!

I love it when people say this shit. If you or anyone else was on the forums on NPGMC, you would have seen that fans there ripped Prince's shit too. Yes, if profanity was used, it was censored but there were times when the NPGMC could have gone toe to toe with the org with it came to bashing Prince's music so please, don't get it twisted. Wow. So an opinion is only valid to you when one is non-critical of Prince?
I looooove this thread. It validates all my dislikes of faMs. And for the record; I love, love, love loads of Prince's output. If you only focus on my criticism, then it's cuz you read into it what you will. On the other hand I give you that I am indeed sometimes harsh in my criticisms, but that is because there is a huge bunch of faMs that, in my eyes, seem to blindly like every single thing. And I do like to tease them with the tool that comes to me easily; sarcasm. And yeah, some, like you, don't care. And I care only to the point I like to taunt faMs. So no sleep lost on both sides!

I don't know if you are adressing me but I know that's not what I said. I basically said people were critical of P's work over at NPGMC almost in the same manner as they are here. And why taunt "fams"? If people are fams, who the hell cares anyway? If that isn't you then it's not, keep doing you, shit. Fams do go too far sometimes and a lot of them are crazy as fuck but who's going to take the high road? Nobody is better than anyone on this site and no one's views are anymore important than anyone else's. It's amazing how people think around here on both sides. Hehehe, actually I was responding to the line 'most of what he said about prince seemed negative'. I would never state someone's post is 'shit' or 'no one cares' directly. I would rather use wit and sarcasm, that's all. I don't get why my critism of Prince's music touches you all so personally. And I only stated my NPGmc remark AFTER I got, to use someone else's words, insulted in a lazy way. I understand your opinion on NPGmc, I just don't agree with it. When it was still up, the über-loonies that think that they are Prince's 'The One' () used to stick to that site. Hehehe. I ain't saying we are all sane about here, but at least the forum would not be cluttered with stuff like http://prince.org/msg/7/262636 AND there was at least the possibility of an open-minded discussion without remarks like 'your posts are shit' or no one fucking cares what you think'.

I don't hate Planet Earth but I agree with you completely silicon man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

One of his weakest periods in his career for me are the late nineties: New Power soul, Slaughterhouse and (to some lesser extent) Rave sounded like Prince was trying to create some kind of 'futuristic' sounding, highly electronical funk and dance-music.
But even 'dancemusic' needs good compositions and inspiration to really 'work'. And that was exactly what the music from this period was lacking. The songwriting was mediocre at best, and the experiments with this 'electronic sound' sound bleak compared to those on 1999 (way more urgent and inspired sounding), the Black album and even The Batman album. To me Prince has never sounded more dated and uninspired during his career then during the late nineties. He probably recognised this himself, because for his albums The Rainbow Children and NEWS he made some sharp 'left-turn' soundwise and seemed to aimed for an organic (almost 70's retro-type of) sound.

"This drummer wicked"? And Prince rapping is 9 times outa 10 something that sends shiffers down my back. Did he ever play this live? IF the answer is no then there's a reason. BOO!

i downloaded both when they first came out, but never actually listened to them untill last summer, must admit i was very surprised how good they are, and that was before i got caught up in the 02 madness and was listening to P solid 24/7.
They are not exactly mindblowing albums, but I am glad to have them, and as always, there are some gems that would blow alot of the crap in the charts at the moment completely out of the water. It is very easy to critize P, due to his back catalogue and history, it is very similiar to being a Liverpool FC fan, only difference being that P is still P, one person, unlike a football club which spends millions and still dissappoints. I personally am fed up of the "I am big P fan, but he is a useless C***" people here, if you dont like it anymore, why bother posting, you sound worse than the Hardcore fams, best thing would be for you all to become Bruce Springsteen, U2 fans and keep your rather ill and narrowminded judgement to yourselves. PS if this post made no sense, read the thread entirely again If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.
