Did anyone see the new show on BET Holla last night. Rick James was on there they were talking about several things then Prince's name came up. Rick talked about him saying stuff like "she oh I mean he" trying to say he was gay and talked about him wearing high heals. And how he opened up for him and that he never had to open up for nobody. It just really surprised me to hear Rick James talk bad about Prince because after all that Rick has gone through you would think that for someone who almost died from a stroke wouldn't put noone else down like that. He did say one positive thing though that "Prince is a fine musician". And that was all he had nice to say. What are your thoughts on this?

Did Rick James ever liked Prince? I read old magazines when he used try to put Prince down all the time. I thought he would've gotten over it by now.

Rick and Prince are old enemies. It goes back to the days when Prince was Rick's opening act. Rick was jealous because audiences would really get into Prince. Rick started giving interviews dissing Prince, saying Prince was confused and that he denied his racial heritage.

There was also some type of incident with Prince supposedly insulting Rick's mother. Apparently there was some kind of party, and Rick's mother approached Prince and asked him for an autograph and Prince supposedly dissed her and refused to give her an autograph.

Also, there is the issue of Rick's girlfriend Vanity, who left Rick and took up with Prince when Prince told her he'd do an album for her. So the rivalry between Prince and Rick James goes back a long time.

Rick is just mad that his career hasn't been as successful as Prince's; when he opened for him in '79 the crowd liked Prince better than Rick. So the rivalry goes back a long time. No disrespect to Rick, I like his music, but I just think it's so stupid to go on with insulting Prince. But it does say something about Prince, he's never said anything bad about Rick, so that proves HE can move on. At least Rick doesn't talk trash about Prince's music. Funny huh? Rick is a bad boy.I dig a lot of his tunes,However,his rivalry with Prince was notorious.It has been many moon since Rick was even on the non-tabloid map and on any musical map.He needs to lt it go.He is showing his buster-ness and that he is a small man.

I've said it before&I'll say it again Rick&Prince have alot more in common than most folks think.almost cut from the same cloth.Rick didn't get the fair push from Motown as Prince did with Warners.I dig them Both.whenever Rick talks about a Artist He usually Nails it about them.He has given Prince Props as a Artist for the most part.it really doesn't mattter one way or the other IMHO.
