Emancipation? (a previous orger stated)   I think, there's not one 'holy grail', but rather a holy trinity, consisting of Purple Rain, 1999 and Sign O' The Times

It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

emancipation and the jam of the year world tour... thats where its at just listen to him playing bass on face down in haai 16th feb 1997. its insane! | |

While Around the world in a day was a Fuck You for people who thought he 'sold out' with Purple Rain, and while Sign of the Times almost sounds like an apology to the music critics, Parade still shows a playfullness and quirkienss that is truelly delightfull! Parade sounds like an 'accident', but somehow it captures the brilliance of Prince in the best way. I am always reminded of Rolling Stones' 4-star rating for this album. The quote that sticks in my head is something like, "The songs contain orchestration that belies years of musical training". Truer words were never spoken....errrrr, written. emancipation and the jam of the year world tour... thats where its at just listen to him playing bass on face down in haai 16th feb 1997. its insane! I mean, don't get me wrong, Emancipation was cool. I'll even say it was one of his better albums from the 90's. But really, you can't rank it with his 80's masterpieces. It's not his absolute best album but it's my favorite. I can play it from start to finish and never skip a track. To me it's Prince's "happiest" album. He sounds so energized and alive throughout the whole thing, even on Sometimes it Snows in April." I always feel good once I'm done listening to the CD.
Parade ROCKS!!!!! [Edited 2/25/08 8:53am] I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that | |
