Prince at Dallas House of Blues for Erykah Badu's listening party I have a friend that works at the Dallas House of Blues. He called me last night (because he knows I'm a Prince fan) and said that Prince was present for Erykah Badu's new CD listening party!

If he's in Dallas anyway and both events are at HOB??? Also it seems that Wendy and Lisa are part of Erykah's new band Edith Funker. Didn't know that. [Edited 2/27/08 9:48am]

That's the best news I've heard all day! New Amerykah is the best CD I've heard in a long time and maybe, just maybe this CD will make Prince do an album that's as amazing and as beautiful as New Amerykah, if not do it better. Prince seems to do his best when there is competition around. He needs to look at Erykah as competition and I'm dead serious about that. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I just bought tix yesterday to see her in concert on March 15th. I can't wait. I remember when P did an aftershow after his second Musicology concert in Dallas at Erykah's Black Forest Theatre until 5:30 am. That was off da hook! Then he got up and drove the Shreveport LA for another Musicology show. I don't how lil man does it.

no more bullshit like planet earth tracks ..bring that shit raw and hard man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

On a side note I found out that Erykah Badu, Q-Tip (A Tribe Called Quest) and Biz Markie are supposed to be performing tonight at the Ghostbar. So I guess I know where I'll be AFTER Maceo performs.

Okay, for me, it's official, Prince is NO longer a Jehovah's Witness. As for Dave, that nucca is ALWAYS high. I saw him lighting up a joint outside of 3121 in Vegas. LOL!!!

Here's a quote from Dave Chappelle in the Observer. Funny but they don't mention Prince being in attendance.
http://blogs.dallasobserver.com/dc9/2008/02/dave_chappelle_not_dead.php
In addition to a slew of big names we already knew Erykah was bringing in to help celebrate her birthday and the release of her new album (?uestlove, Bun B, Pharoahe Monch, 9th Wonder, et al), she dropped a pretty big bomb on tonight's crowd when she introduced her friend Dave Chappelle to the stage. Chappelle, who unsurprisingly earned a thunderous applause, played some keyboard (or just faked it real well) before grabbing the mic and talking to the crowd. "This is is like a bigfoot sighting! All the pictures of me in the press are all grainy and shit," he said before freezing in a half-stride, looking-over-his-shoulder-at-the audience pose. "It's just nice to get out of the house," he said later. "Only Erykah can do that." Chappelle then urged the crowd and the 20 or so people on stage to sing Erykah a "sexy" version of "Happy Birthday" before he returned to the background and side of the stage for the rest of the night. As for if we'll see him again any time soon, Chappelle had this much to say: "I'm just waiting till Obama gets in office. Then I'll be on TV again saying all types of shit." -- Pete Freedman That boy IS a certified fool and I love him.

Prince has damn good taste when it comes to Erykah but thats no suprise eh! Its odd that the Oscars, this and the announcement of more gigs has come just after the lunar eclipse we've had as believe in that stuff or not all the astrologers have said its a time when people change their lives(that might be linked to the JW aspect too) and Mercury in his sign Gemini is moving forward in communication... ummm good news for us eh

I am glad I haven't depended whole heartedly on the zodiac, becuz according to the History Channel, there is a thirteenth sign, that they just didn't feel fit comfortably into the sky, so they didn't tell it to the people, it's between sagittarius and the next one....Somewhere between October and December....Now what are we gonna do besides fall in love with other people. Okay, I've checked into this and it seems that it's a rumor. Before and after the Maceo show (which was amazing BTW ) I spoke with various security folks, the HOB manager, a Dallas Morning News reporter who was there the night before too, and a Maceo Parker bandmember and they ALL said P was NOT there and it was Dave Chappelle who sang Happy Birthday to her.
After the show, I went to see Erykah at the Ghostbar (Biz Markie DJ'd and Talib Kweli and Dave Chappelle were there. Loads of silly fun!) and ran into an old homey of mine who was with her entourage. He also said Prince was not there last night. Maybe the people who said P was there were referring to Dave since he played Prince on TV. I dunno . . . Anyway, great night of fun and "someone" did mention the possibility of a new 3121 in Minneapolis but don't be mad at me if it doesn't jump off.
