Without doubt, probably his greatest talent. There is probably no other artist or group in history that have pulled it off like P has. He is like a massive sponge, soaking it all up and then squeezing it out in a perfected form. It is what puts him on a different level to others.

BTW we will probably be arrested for saying this razz
If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

No really, I have thought about it for yrs about P, especially when in the yrs when I was listening to virtually no P music, it is sometimes really amusing to hear from who he gets his influences. Alot of attention is given to bigs names that influenced P, oddily in alot of cases P takes their work and basically owns it. Take for example Miss You, Just My Imagination, Whole Lotta Love and so on.

P will never go down in history like the Elvis´s , Beatles etc, although they all stole their ideas from someone else, but this is something that will always set P apart from them, he has never claimed to invent music, he simply is it

Prince has stolen lyrics from God, which God thought was cute for Prince to try to get away with...So God gave him some. And then Prince Takes a little bite of Kool and the gang with..."Shake that thing, c'mon..." From, Get Down on it, c'mon and Get down on it...If ya really wan' it.
So God told Prince to write "Planet Earth." all by himself for a punishment.

short list:

Album:

For You: Chris Moon suggested that he was under-credited on "Soft and Wet", and not credited at all on "Baby" and "My Love is Forever." All three of which were on the demo Chris gave to Owen Husney.

Prince: Prince stated in the Rolling Stones 1985 interview that André Cymone played bass and sang on "Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad?" He called it a typo... did they fix that typo on the Hits sleeve?

Dirty Mind: Dez is said to have come up with the bass for "up town" and Morris wrote "Party up."

Controversy: even if the source was not copyrighted and well known, Prince gave no credit to King David for the Lord's Prayer. Also the music for "jack U Off" sounds like something from a cartoon.

1999 and Purple Rain ???

ATWIAD: "America" is also close to other songs.

Parade: ???

SoTT: IGBABN: "Oh We Oh ohoh" and "U Got the Look" took a line from a song his sister wrote. (he won but do you really think they both came up the line "cookin in your book"?

Lovesexy: "love is god god is love" from the book of John. "glam Slam" based on an old joke that goes in part "grand slam thank you mama you really make my DAY"

if you steal any of my work i will be angry. you wouldnt like it when Stereo gets angry.

i will not see the connection between stealing your work and why i feel so angry about you stealing mine.

Planet Earth alone has two examples - you'd be in serious denial if you didn't note the striking similarities between "Guitar" & The Edge's playing on U2's "I Will Follow." "Planet Earth" lifts a bit from the Duran Duran track of the same name. "Peach" nicked a bit from a ZZ Top track...it goes on & on from there. And that's not even counting work he didn't credit his own former bandmates for.

Enough with that stupidity. Really. I mean, I know Prince can do little wrong in your eyes, but come on now.So, The Beatles & Elvis picked up guitars & "played them faster" than most other white people at the time because they saw the appeal in work by people like Chuck Berry. That's fine for cuts like "Twist & Shout." However, to think that Chuck Berry & the like had any impact on Sgt. Pepper & their other later albums is just ridiculous.

And as a matter of fact, Prince claims quite a bit of his own importance...in Undisputed, he sings "Once again, I don't follow trends, they follow me." Ironically, in an ill-conceived attempt at rap, a trend that he has never & will never lead.
