prince plays better guitar on 777-9311 or get it up? prince layed some of his finest guitar work on get it up and 777-9311.
althought general public still thinks its jesse playing them. so which solo do you like more :get it up or 777-9311 my vote goes to get it up. prince was only 23 years old when he recorded this epic guitar solo

i agree with you about get it up, one of p's est guitar solos. one of my favorite songs too. "get it up, get it up, i'll funk you all night!" the one from 777-9311 is too, and i that song as well, only i really don't believe that's prince (jesse), but i'm probably wrong. For all time I am with you, you are with me.

Both solos are very cool. And both are very different as well. 777 is basically P trying to sound like Jesse. That's why P is using a whammy bar on the lead. Something he very rarely used, if ever, during this period. But Jesse used a whammy bar, so ...The effects P is using as well is what Jesse used while on tour opening up for P on the Controversy tour. I like this solo. But I favor the Get It Up solo better. Always have. This is P at his purest. Again though, this solo is very much influenced by Slave's cut "Slide" from 1977. Marc "Drac" Hicks fantastic solo laid the blueprint down for P on Get It Up. On another note, I just checked out that Slave song and he says "I ain't gonna bite ya, I just want ya to hang on." Could that be the inspiration to the opening of 1999 "I won't hurt you, I only want you to have some fun?" Maybe a little tongue-in-cheek by Prince? Or could Prince's be a unintentional rip?

I gotta go with 777-9311. The whole song is simply a one-man tour de force. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.
