Getting to interview THE Artist

Only1 time in the 80s did someone get to interview Prince. Then in the 90s he started doing them Does anybody have any idea why 0+> didn't want to do interviews?

My guess is that interviews are controlled. An hour or two of an explanation can say very little about your intentions.
The media has a way of distorting what people say...Maybe it's that simple...Prince doesn't feel like talking up a storm, when only a raindrop will be understood.

From what I understand, Prince did an interview for Rolling Stone in 1985. Then he did his first televised interview for MTV that same year.

Then he did Rolling Stone again in 1990. And I heard he did some during D&P, but I haven't seen any footage.

And actually, prince did more interviews than Prince has.
He did a whole bunch when he was promoting Emancipation and half the time, Mayte was sitting on his lap.
Then he made a few appearances in 1999 for promoting Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic.

He did a press conference on 5/19/00 when he officially took his name back.

Then he did several appearances during 2004.

And why didn't Prince want to do interviews?

He's more comfortable when he's onstage, performing with his band than speaking in front of a group of people on his own. In fact, I don't think they ever got him alone for a televised interview until the 90's. And he always said that he'd prefer to let his music speak for him.

He's truely Dr.Jeckell and Mr.Hyde. Onstage he's a wildman who screams lines at a moments notice. and offstage or at the podium he's soft and innocent acting.
Working up a purple sweat.

Gemini to the core I think. If there were a multiple personality zodiac sign Prince's picture would be next to it. He was careful in early interviews but often misunderstood so he decided to chill.
