The look that george michael had in the faith video, what with the designer stubble and leather coat really reminds me of prince do you think george was influenced by prince around the time of this album? Ive always thought he was.

I think we have all been influenced by Prince...anyone exposed to Prince music.

The long version of "I Want Your Sex" on the album is definitely influenced by Prince. It's very similar to the extended version of "Kiss."

you really want to hear GM biting Prince. Check out Hard Day...I think its the b-side to one of the Faith singles

The song is funky as hell and even comes with the speeded up camille vocals

Listen to the drum programming (particularly on Father Figure), the country stylings on Faith and the sped-up vocals on Hard Day, and I think you have a pretty convincing argument of some influence.

Hard Day is the obvious hat tip, but you can hear the influence throughout. George even recruited Jam and Lewis to Remix for him on Monkey.

I'm sure George stated somewhere that his b-side "Fantasy" was a direct attempt to emulated Prince's style.

George has said that he thinks Prince is a genius, but has lost the ability to self criticise he own music, leading to sub par output due to weaker tracks making it onto albums. I'd have to agree with him!

Not denying that I want your sex was very influenced by P though. It was pretty well known at the time that GM was influenced by the whole Minnie thing - loved Jam and Lewis too who remixed Monkey.

No. Jam & Lewis' only involvement with George Michael was their remix of Monkey. George has almost always produced his own material (not to mention playing a good percentage of the instrumentation). The only exception to this was the Phil Ramone-produced Songs From The Last Century.
