Lion of Judah I absolutely love the thoughtfulness of the part which follows these lyrics in the first verse-
"Everyone expected this outcome, still they jump around with glee" *Cheering and clapping audible at this point. Only Prince could do something so subtly and still have an impact! I know it's quite simple and nobody else problem gave this a second listen, I just find it really cool. Let me have my fun

this is actually one of the problems with his more recent music.
if it's one or two here or there it's fine but he tends to put a lot of them in one single song especially to emphasise lines he sings. it sounds over done imo. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Actually, this example in 'LOJ' is one occasion where I think it works, but Prince's use of these kind of sound effects since, say, the mid-90s, rarely adds anything IMO, it's more of a distration than anything, from the lack of musical ideas.

With or without it its a nice song, I noticed it first time I heard it but then I always listen deeply as I'm trying to catch every lyric.

couldn't agree more with nouveau dance.. it's sheer laziness trying to support a weak lyric with a weaker sound effect/sample.
the ticking clock and dripping water in ''the most beautiful girl..' might be the best example. truly cringe worthy, i'm blinded by the daisies in your yard....

He does that a LOT! yeah. you know, it wouldn't be half as bad if he'd bought himself a new box of sound fx somewhere in the 90's but instead he keeps using all of those samples we've heard time and time before wake me when you're done prince and true love lives on lollipops and crisps
