slaughterhouse

what do people think about this album? it seems to be the least talked about of all his cd's (though for you often is criminally underlooked).

iv been listening to it more lately and have realised its a great album...very tight with a few great tracks, particularly the first half of the cd.
Wouldn't you love to love me?

It is the album that won me over after some very disappointing years. I
think it is one of the best albums of the last decade. boxed
Especially "Y Should Eye Do That When Eye Can Do This" and "2045 Radical Man"
are songs that I play over and over. They turn up on a lot of compilation cd's
I make for listening in my car.

i split chocolate invasion and slaughterhouse into two cds as they were going to be released

High and Peace.

peace has the more funky stuff, and everything that features the npg or larry and kirk.

whereas high has more poppy rnb stuff, all the prince only tracks.

although im glad he released rainbow children instead, high could of finished his career after rave

I recently started getting into this album a couple of months ago. I was just chillin' when it came up in rotation. It's funny cause I wasn't paying too close attention to who it was, but I noticed first that the music was very tight and very funky. Then it hit me how cohesive all the songs were as an album. And then finally, I took note that it was "The Slaughterhouse".

My favorite cuts:
    2. "S & M Groove"
    3. "Y Should I Do That When I Can Do This"
    7. "Northside"

and in particular:
    9. "2045: Radical Man"

(He just steps all in the funk on that one! Also, kudos for the proper use of "The N-Word" in a song)
"There's Nothing That The Proper Attitude Won't Render Funkable!"

I don´t have it either.

It's the boiling point of everything I find faulty in Prince's plastic production period; soulless and devoid of funk.

I hope it's not often discussed because people are ignoring it, like I do and pretend it never happened.

at the time i preferred high/TCI/slaughterhouse over TRC ..he could have released all 3 and it would have been cool
man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

It's cold and empty sounding. The songs on Slaughterhouse sound more like cheap demos than fully completed tracks.

From someone who Susan Rogers described as 'he would even get music outa a comb and a toothbrush' (or something close to it) this sounds like uninspired drivel.

It's alright. Not my favorite but not something to never play again either. The songs I dig are Peace, Silicon and Y Should I Do This When I Can Do That. I'd rather listen to The Chocolate Invasion. Now that was the bomb. nod
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Good enough album. The first two tracks are my favourites, it goes down hill a bit after that, and then it ends with the extremely icky 'The Dance'. ill That song gets on my tits. And then he had to go and do the sodding thing again on 3121. Eurrgh.
Lemmy, Bowie, Prince, Leonard. RIP.
