It was a...sociological experiment. Ya, that's it. Yeah right...I think you're cute and shit but come on now... To quote George Orwell: "If liberty means anything, it means the right to tell people what they do not want to hear." That applies to the topic, and those who responded. Freedom of speech on the org, et al....

Erin, this thread is interesting, despite what anyone else says...it has shown every level of obsession/fandom/appreciation for Prince...
I'm always amazed by this forum...I still can't wrap my mind around how folks can be so offended when anything negative is posted about the man...the cries for positivity from some are overwhelming when it comes to him...however, many other artists/musicians/singers/wannabes are openly bashed, questioned, and dissected without second thought...and those pleading for positive thoughts are nowhere to be found in defense of those other artists... yes...I know it's a Prince fan site...which is why any open discussion about him should be welcomed...positive/negative...straight/gay...good music/shitty music...leave the kids for him/just fuck him on the side and keep the kids...serious/not so serious... the original question posed in this thread may have been silly/tongue in cheek...but it has opened up a discussion about levels of obsession...believe what you want but there are some here that have an unhealthy obsession with Prince...spend anytime in this forum and it's obvious...

No one should. I hope that makes sense. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Would you do it for Prince or not? shameless thread bumps are tacky... Oh. So I had this dream last night. I was at some awards show with my co-workers. We were sitting at a table with Jokers of the Scene (DJs) when the hens from the View come over. Then along comes wee Prince. I have no idea why he wanted to come to our table...other than we were having a blast. Since we were nobodies our table was way off to the side far away from the celebs. He was performing that night, I guess. He didn't really say much but he was obviously wanting to get in on our silliness but no one was really paying much attention to him. We're all self-centered jerks, you see. I remember watching him and thinking he looked like he felt awkward. Anyway, he left and was actually supposed to be sitting with those View loudmouths but he actually then just disappeared. I distinctly remember looking at their table and seeing his chair empty. Fun times. See what posting in this forum did to me? I had a dream about Prince...albeit he played only a minor role in it.

I was put on the guess list earlier that afternoon. At that time, I didn't know P was going to be there. Didn't matter though, I was still going. I was hip to the fact that the ladies from The View were going to be there. Although I don't agree with much of what Elizabeth says, I think she's cute as hell so I wanted to meet her. Which I did. It would have been cooler if Sheri didn't keep interupting us. I know Liz is married and all but still. Odd thing that I too so P briefly speaking with Whoopi and actaully over hearing Joy comment on how cute she thought P's shoes were. I was walking past towards the back to the left. I remember walking past a table with some women who were what I call giddy. It appeared they were having a minor riot of laughter. Which was cool. Perhaps it was your table. Perhaps u saw me. I was wearing an emerald green velvet coat. Straight out of Willie Wonka. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

I have to agree with Freddy here with this. I enjoy hearing all points of views when it comes to Prince and I wish more people would come here to this section and express themselves about their views of the man. Personally, I try my best to be objective and to give both sides the benefit of the doubt before I post anything. I try to keep it as positive as I can but I'm sure people see me as an Purple Kool-Aid Drinker or whatever silly name you can think of with Prince but I don't give a shit. I'm not going to change for anyone. I may challenge someone who's views are opposite of mine every now and then but I wouldn't want that person to leave because he/she doesn't agree with me. I can be civil and I would hope everyone else would be too. That's why I get kinda mad when I hear people say "I can't go to P:M&M cause those people in there are crazy". No one should let anyone deter them from coming here for whatever reason. We are all Prince fans, at least I think most of us are but that's another topic. We should say what we want, respectfully, and be done with it. That's just my take & I hope that makes sense. [Edited 2/22/08 11:43am] I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince".
