In the scene where Prince has taken Appalonia to his room and plays the tape for her. Prince says the tape is of someone laughing but it is backwards and it sounds like she is crying (maybe I have that reversed). Question: if you listen closely, the girl on the tape is clearly saying something. Has anyone ever found out what she is saying? Knowing Prince, especially at that time, there's probably a little secret message there.

I don't know why he keeps a backwards tape of someone crying
I've heard its Prince's way of spiting Vanity (who's on the tape) for leaving the movie.

Once and for all Jill is half sister to Teena Marie.
Teena was on the first real tour that Prince did with Rick James.
And Vanity was following Rick around while he was engaged to Teena.
Teena was really in love with Rick but he messed up by constantly
bring Vanity around.
So that is what broke them up.
And another thing.
Someone may be upset that this web site called me a liar.
Now you guess who was on the tape
So he would not get lonely on tour he could hear familar voices.
His mother and I would send tapes instead of letters.

20th anniversary 2 disc special edition of purple rain and i really enjoyed the commentary with lisa and wendy and also the MTV premiere party, that was just funny 2 c the hair and outfits back then brought back memories and i really enjoyed watching also 4 videos at the end 2 of which were in concert very nice
and i'm glad this all happened because i would have never seen these special features besides it was nice 2 watch it again. i forgot how much i liked it
