dont hate me but i was just watchin u got the look with sheens easton and its the only song he sings without a mike and given the voice synth i was wondering if he lip synched it for that show - what you all think?

Of course.

U Got The Look is a video for the single, not a live preformance (he didn't
perform that song on the Sign O' The Times tour).

A lot of the other footage is lip synched too, as most of it was actually re-shot
at Paisley Park. There was a problem with the quality of a lot of the footage
shot at the venue, so they had to re-shoot all the close-ups back at Paisley
Park. In the end they ended up using more re-shot footage than original. So
in the finished film, almost everything apart from the wide shots were from the
Paisley Park re-shoots.

Yeah. He's lip synching to a live performance he did earlier.

he actually rerecorded the vocals and much of the music..the movie is that,,,A MOVIE..It is far from a live show !

No producer worth two cent would release a movie unless it was done correctly. Of course he is lipping on quite a bit of the performance.

Hot Thing is the most obvious one.

"In the aftermath of the Sign O' The Times tour, when Prince came to assemble the tour movie, he encountered a number of problems. Examining the multi-track tape recording from Europe, he discovered there wasn't enough separation between the channels. Consequently, he had to bring most of the band members into Sunset Sound or Paisley Park to re-record their parts. "We played the entire show in the studio", Eric Leeds remembers. "Me and Matt Blistan re-recorded virtually all our horn parts. What was really amazing was that Sheila redid all her drums parts. That was difficult!"

The concert footage proved even more problematic. It was immediately obvious that very little of the film was usable. "It was just awful, grainy, and didn't look good at all", remembers [Susan] Rogers. "He realised, 'Well, if I'm going to do this, I better do it right,' so he decided to perform the whole concert onstage at Paisley Park". Performance scenes, including many close-ups, were filmed at the new complex in the second half of July [1987]. A few hundred extras filled up the soundstage as Prince and the band lip-synched their way through the pre-recorded concert recording. "By the time the film was completely edited for release", says Eric Leeds, "the bulk of the shots, around 80 percent, were the ones we shot at Paisley Park rather than footage from the actual concerts themselves."

You can tell that easy.

For example, on "I Could Never Take The Place..." he doesn't have a guitar pick in his hands, as he's "playing".

I never knew he did, I thought it was all live
