What a lot of fuss and still no update.

It is just about one simple thing:

If it is legal to do as mr. Prince says we can't do.

As it sounds now (Turnitup said:

The delay is not down to NPG at all now, it's down to :

a) The team having the time to finalise things on the statement.
b) The legal guys checking it to see we haven't libelled anyone
c) The media guys to be ready to run with the story.
), they didn't get a nice agreement to go with the pre-cooked text mr. Prince would want them to publish.

Prince is not involved in approval of this statement whatsoever.

Please don't add spin that's blatantly untrue.

no honey,i dont take sidez.i c misunderstandingz gone way too far & give my 2 cents 2 help bring clarity and resolution,4 free.

"loving prince" iz difficult.at best,u just get better at coping with him, just as "loving prince fans" iz difficult when the moderators on all 3 sites have denied a multitude of members the right 2 the freedom of speech they now claim 2 b protecting.

i have first hand experience with him being an insidious self-obsessed little shit,& with moderators of forums denying me freedom of speech even when i havent broken any rules.

true freedom of speech happens when people on both sides stop power tripping & wake up 2 the meaning of life.rainbo

In the phrase "they didn't get a nice agreement to go with the pre-cooked text mr. Prince would want them to publish."

We don't get have to get anything approved by Prince.

Yes we have to be careful in our wording so as to avoid libelling Prince, however that's about it.

The unavailability of the pre-cooked text just means that he didn't do the work and that you can do it. Nothing more, nothing less.
A pre-cooked text can be approved and used; it doesn't have to be.
So there is no spin, assuming normal human behaviour.

Then:

When you need to tell the world about something normal, not even trying to insult him, why the need for avoiding libelling?
You are telling the truth, no?
Not making something up?
You are telling what happenend to you.
You are telling how the laws are. Even US or UK laws...

I mean: it is a normal thing you want to tell and you need a lawyer?

Now that is a sign of the times.

This brings up a question. I'm going to be singing in our local Ottawa Idol competition in a couple of weeks. If I choose to sing a Prince song, do you think I might get into trouble for it even though it's not a hugely televised event like Canadian or American Idol?

no one's allowed to sing anything ever no more no way no how
prince has written so many songs
including the many leaked unreleased tunes
if you even dare sing three notes that match anything in any of his songs...
let me warn you now -- you will be SUED!
for next year, he's working on going after anyone who plays one single note that he's ever used in a song
a bit crazy, i know
but who are we to judge, eh?

Sadly it is.

You really believe that everyone avoiding libel lawsuits is lying ?

Perhaps it's sometimes because the other party hides behind lawsuits and lawyers in order to attempt control of the other party ?

This is Prince, we are talking about here, is it not? Everyone is well aware of his attempts at control! What we have yet to be made aware of is, exactly what is going on with the PFU campaign! How freaking long does it take to say...this is what was negotiated and this is what became of it? bored

We WERE due to issue a statement this week, however have been trying to liase with AEG to get fan ticketing sorted for the European gigs.

I personally feel it's a priority that we get great tickets secured for all fans for all concerts and that's more important than issuing constant updates,

We are legally bound as to what can be discussed to date.

That's all good and everything but I'm not in Europe and even if Prince tours the US, I refuse to give him any more of my money, so I won't be going anyway. shrug

There hasn't been an official update on this PFU issue since December, so no one is asking for "constant updates", one will do! wink

How can you be legally bound?
Please elaborate.

Why did you get yourself bound?
Etc?

You really believe that everyone avoiding libel lawsuits is lying ?

Did I say that?
If so: please remember I don't speak english as my sole or primary language.
I just wanted to say that when not in a legal fight, i.e. simply communicating towards the world and/or the other fans, one should not need a lawyer to avoid libeling whoever.
If you do think so: what is the difference between everyday speech and this specific thing?
Even going pro-se at him, mr P could be kicked ass in court.

And about the [attempt at] siding with AEG:

This is the company that sold us the O2 tickets, right?
Did you forget how that thing went?

BTW: this is not hate, just some critical thinking about reality

The way I read it was that instead of working on the PFU statement, they were trying to get pre-sales or special tickets for fansites, since tickets went on sale last week. While perhaps not the primary issue of PFU, remember all the ticket issues during 3121 Vegas, the Roosevelt shows, and the ticket fiascos at the O2? I think PFU were just trying to do something special for fans, considering that NPGMC is long defunct; which I for one appreciate even though I cannot go to Ireland. (I hope they will try to do the same if Prince announces US shows...)

If people don't like that PFU was trying to get special ticket deals for Prince fans, then by all means, they don't need to take advantage of any special ticket deals PFU may be able to negotiate. lol

(That last statement is not directed at you babynoz, just a general comment.)
