Prince@Grammy's...50 yrs after Frank Sinatra I would safely say is the Chairman of the Board today. Think about it. Alicia Keys sings trading verses with Sinatra, walks the runway to welcome guests on behalf of Chairman of the Board and herself, then Prince makes grand showy entrance as did Sinatra back in the day setting the stage for what's to come. IMO, today, 50 years later, Prince is Chairman of the Board. The subliminal message begins with Alicia & Sinatra and ends with Alicia & Prince as they leave the stage arm in arm. Lemme | |

I have no idea why the idiot before me posted that, and thought it was funny, but this is actually a worthy topic.
Prince's ability 2 "reinvent" himself, and come back is actually reminiscent of Sinatra, who came back like 3 times, and each time better. But besides longevity and rebounding ability, it's tough 2 compare, maybe because of the times involved during Sinatra's career. Sinatra was blacklisted at times, investigated 4 both ties 2 the Mafia and 4 being a communist, supported (and passionately stood up 4) equal rights way before it was politically correct, invented theme albums, changed singing forever, influencing perhaps the most vocalists in music history, and gave anonymously 2 countless causes and organizations. Yes, there R many parallels. If anyone dares 2 challenge any of this, be aware that this is all well documented, so any Sinatra haters step the &%$# off. ~G "He's a musician's musician..." |

sinatra also was the guy old man kennedy sent to sam giancanna to make sure jack won virginia and illinois. prince, could not even at his peak influence a president being elected.Also Sinatra was a rebel but he countered the system by being a huge part of the system, casting his own movies and buying reprise,prince cjose to work outside of the system. | |

With Prince winding up a Las Vegas stint in 2007, I can see some producer thinking it a good fit to bring him in after the Frank video. In today's music industry Prince is probably the coolest cat in the game. As accomplished as Prince is though, it's unfair to call him a modern day Sinatra. He hasn't earned it. Sinatra casts a shadow over all of Entertainment. In fact it would be unfair to compare Bono, MJ, Madonna, James Brown, Elvis or anyone else in the history of music to Frank. Sinatra was just that talented in his day. Iconic Singer, iconic actor, pop icon, legend, the blueprint for the recording industry for the last 70 years... no Frank Sinatra is the only Chairman of The Board. Though I love me some Prince.  | |

Yes, and right after Sinatra did this favor, and Kennedy got elected, Robert Kennedy became Attorney General, and went after Giancana, and Italian mob with a vengeance. If U ever watch those senate hearings, you'll see RFK saying things like "animals", and "you people", and worse. Fucking jerkoff. I'm personally glad RFK got his. JFK was another story, and an unfortunate one... and the mafia was NOT responsible 4 JFK. Otherwise, with the Reprise thing, Frank WAS rebelling, and against Capitol, because they wanted him 2 do corny novelty songs, with overdubs. He didn't BUY Reprise, he FORMED it. When Sinatra formed Reprise records in 1960, he envisioned it as a safe harbor for both himself and his friends. 4 2 long he had labored under the whips of other masters at Columbia and Capitol; this time it was going 2 be all 4 him.
