I have Dez's book and although it's a great read, I feel that he definately held back. I'm not surprised that Dez left when he did. Not at all. Dez was tiring of certain things being in P's band for awhile before 84. A good 3 years before. P told Dez about this 3-5 year plan starting from 83. Dez knew the film would make it harder for him to bounce and go solo. Which is what he had been wanting to do. P was actaully helping him cut some tracks. Don't think Dez had much impact on the music of PR. Dez was kinda isolated in 83 so P was in his own zone and drawing from whomever was around. Similar reason to why Vanity bailed when she did. She knew it would be hard as hell to establish herself away from P if she had stayed on in the film. Vanity had bigger dreams than just staying under the control of P for the rest of her career. She was getting offers to do other things when she was in V6 so....I wish she had stayed in the film. It would have been better. More true and definately darker. I definately wish Dez would have stayed in the film cuz I never dug Wendy.

I have added this Newsweek clipping from 1981, I was fortunate that a neighbour of mine used collect the magazine, gives an interesting insight into how P was protrayed at the time and reading it in hindsight is amusing.
