It's a make-up call for all the great Prince songs that went ignored in the 80's. It's a strong track in many ways, but it's not exceptional, when compared against Prince's own work. I doubt it would be among the Top 25 Favorite Prince Songs for most Prince fans. Again it's a solid song, but it's curious how it's received recognition when so many superior Prince songs have gone ignored by the Grammys.

But really, in modern times Grammys are awarded to far lesser songs and far lesser "musicians" and "artists". The music to "Umbrella" by Rihanna was the demonstration track included with Apple's Garageband loop program, and that thing won an award! So if that is Grammy worthy then so is "Future Baby Mama".

4real or is that a joke?[/quote]

Not a joke, it's true:

They also didn't give credit to the original musicians. lol

Any song that's released as a single is Grammy worthy, so yes to that question. IMO, the better question is "Should Future Baby Mama have won the Grammy?" My answer would be No cause as much as I love Prince, I thought Ne-Yo's Because of U was a better song and should have won. Of course I'm not mad that Prince won but for FBM? Nah.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Easily a yes , when the album came out first thing I noticed was how great the vocals were on FBM and I said so when I wrote up my review , he sings it beautifully , and regardless of what you think of its lyrics or tune thats not what the grammy was for , it was for Best r&b male vocal , and if Prince singing like that doesnt deserve a grammy then nothing does .

On a night where a talentless hack like Kanye West walks off with four Grammy awards, no one should question whether or not a Prince song deserves a Grammy.
He is exactly who we thought he was

No, just one of his several failed attempts at creating some bland, 'modern' R&B-song

Passionless, dull, polished shit.

(other examples: TMBGITW, The One, The greatest romance...)

At first I questioned it but after sitting down with the headphones I realized that it is an amazing pop song. It won for best vocal performance aso I took note of the signature Prince sound with the layered multi-track vocals - the kind of incredible genius sound that we got in the first song on his first album. No artist can do this like Prince. Future Baby Mama has a title I cant stand but it is the perfect Prince song: flawless composition and structure, perfectly performed, and requires at least 15 plays before you get it all.

Congrats to Prince - he should have gotten more for Planet Earth.

Pff..its boring...a three out of five star...

When you look at the competition, sure. When you look at other, vastly superior Prince songs that didn't win a Grammy, no.

Why not?

When has "Grammy worthy" ever, truly meant anything? Maybe the year, Lionel Richie won over "Purple Rain" and "Born in the U.S.A." for album of the year?

Or the year "S.O.T.T." was passed over?

They're just honoring Prince now, basically I feel, for his entire catalogue and career; making up for past indiscretions.

Based on what you've said, that would be this site, no?
And technically, I did once join a no talent site, but it's particular focus was on not having any talent for using periods in their sentences ( .'s), so I tended to continue to read every sentence of every post of of every thread all the way thru to the very last page of the very last forum. And by that time, I couldn't undetstand what the hell I had just read let alone all the time that it took to read it.
So eventually, I just said "Fuck it. I'll go join the org."
And here I am.

and how u doing

Well, I just got over a stomach flu, so my system's a bit drained & I'm still have a little case of the runs, but overall, I guess I'm doing okay.
