This is my first post, so hello everyone to begin with!

After buying and seeing Under the Cherry Moon for the first time a few weeks ago (I know, it took me long enough!), it's completely shocking that Prince scored three Razzie awards for it. It's such a misunderstood movie, P is not taking himself seriously at all and everything is measured and with its intent. The credibility and accuracy of the Razzie awards leaves a lot to be desired, so perhaps there's no need to look into it (eg- James Coco and Amy Irving being nominated for both Oscars and Razzies for the same performances).

So not only is UTCM a great and stylish movie with lots of laughs, P looks amazing in it- and his ass

Hmm...seems they gave him three razzpberries for a Cherry

Which reminds me, the bat scene is hilarious! I cracked up so much the first time I saw that. And P is just cute all around in that film, he has great chemistry with Jerome and Kirstin.

I like UTCM.I think the critics were too harsh.The movie isn't perfect,but there are some hilarious scenes in it.I like the dream-like quality of it.Prince's humor is fun to watch.It was cool seeing him this way.

I feel the same way about Madonna's movie 'Who's That Girl',which was released a year later.Both of these films were unfairly attacked by the critics.If you sit down and watch these movies now,you can see that they're really not that bad.

Remember Prince's speech at the Razzies? That was so cool.

Teh problem with Prince and Movies is....Everyone is looking for another Purple Rain... If UTCM came before it might have done better. I think it is funny...

I loved this movie Loved it alot. I am glad that you got to see it. i love the party scene where Mary sees him for the first time, and they play the little drum beat and he gives her that DEAD ON TIGER LOOK. Totally Hot

Under The Cherry Moon is just a fun movie with suitably camp performances, quite beautiful visuals, and its tongue set firmly in its cheek.
Anybody who took it seriously enough to even contemplate giving it an award for anything negative is clearly in need of a fun injection and needs to realise that not every film ever made is trying to be another Citizen Kane.
It was never trying to be an oscar winner. It was just a case of making a movie for anybody who might enjoy it.

It was intended as entertaining fluff and it succeeds 100%.

Yet another example of Prince getting jipped.
That movie deserved more than just 3 Razzies.

I watched the movie last night for the umtenth time after the Grammy's. Prince has the UTCM look now. I was please to take notice that Prince and his father John L Nelson wrote the script. Nice for father and son.
