Remember when you used to get excited everytime prince released a 12inch single? I remember the time. Those were the good old days. Remember when prince would release a new 12inch and there was always a better jam on the B side.

Now everytime I buy a new prince cd, I say to my self I've been tricked again! I try to keep hope alive that he will have another SOTT or Purple Rain again.

Whenever I read these threadz, I alwayz have a moment of silence 4 my turntable...and 4 the memories of the days we slid good music out of an album cover.
I look 4ward to the day that I can hook up another player, and drag all of my records out...4 now, I just can't do it. "The Lion Sleeps Tonight...

12 inch records always sounded better than cd's. Most CD's are just recorded so loud now a days. It just looses it's sound quality.

Man, I wrote a thread on here about my experiences as a kid buying P 12' and P albums in gerneral. Yeah, I had folks at Tower Records on Sunset telling me when P's 12 inch singles would be released. So I always knew before the release date. Same with any other P related album, 45 or long version. Be it The Time, V6, Sheila, whatever. This was from 81-88. But especially through 81- 85. There was this other smaller record store during this same period in the valley that specialized in imports. They would get shit there fast as hell. I loved this store cuz it was never crowded. They knew I was a Prince nut so I always got first dibs on shit cuz they wouldn't order that many of P's. I bought my first 12' of P's there. It was "Let's Work" b/w "Gotta Stop Messin About". This was in 82. They would get somewhat rare Prince shit like Controversy era posters and t-shirts. Shit that didn't sell at the concerts. The best was when 1999 was released. They would get different 12' that had different lp covers. I remember getting the 12' to Little Red Corvette there. I have 3 different 1999 single 12' that has 3 different covers. Two different Let's Pretend lp covers. They had tons of Rude boy buttons, Rude Boy t-shirts, etc. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

I LIVED to buy albums and 12inch singles. I was 12 but i remember the excitement of buying each single for Purple Rain, then Around the World, then Under the Cherry Moon. It was a truly special time. Playing each one until I knew EVERY word of a remix, extended version, or B-side. Love or Money and She's Always in My Hair were my faves. I just put all my wax stuff on my iPod and it's been heavenly. I have a turntable so I'll crank it up and dust a "record" off every now and then. All this was such a bonding experience with the music. I feel sorry for kids today they really missed out. Clueless bastids! [Edited 2/12/08 13:00pm]

Why? I try to view each project as its own entity. I'm not crazy about every single album, but I do try to treat each project as its own. I don't like to compare the projects (though you can't help it sometimes). Come on people, realize that he can't always make a masterpiece. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

There used to be this big huge book in the record store which was updated every week -- it looked like a big ol' yellow pages -- which contained all the single releases and catalogue numbers for each release. I used to look up Prince, Jesse, Andre, and most every other associated artist. I ordered them all! It was the only way to get them in my small town. Sometimes it took weeks before they'd come. But then I'd get the call from the record store and be begging my mom to take me there right now! I couldn't wait to hear those extended versions, remixes, and extra b-side songs!! Man, I'm shaking just thinking about it now. Those were GOOD days. [Edited 2/13/08 0:38am]

I remember those days! It was so exciting. The first Prince 12" single I bought was "Let's Pretend We're Married" with "Irresistible Bitch" on the B-side.This was in early 1984.After that,I began buying all of Prince's 12" singles. The "Let's Go Crazy/Erotic City" 12" is one of my favs.
Too bad those days are long gone
