I thought I preferred the Family's until I recently heard it. It's OK, but I think Sinead did it better. And I think Prince's own recordings of it are overworked and a bit opportunistic frankly.

Sinead's definitely, followed by The Family. I'm not so keen on the Prince and
Rosie version as I don't think that song works as a duet, plus it's far too
showey and vegasey for my taste.

I love the version with Prince and Rosie, but Sinead does an excellent version too.

Wow.
Unless you're using it in a sentence in reference to "The Family's VERSION", then you'd say "The Family's"?

the family's
prince with rosie
sinead is the WORST version of them all
man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

I prefer THE FAMILY'S version.

I liked Sinead's video and vocal for it but St. Paul's voice is amazing on the original.

no need to be sarcy when you clearly try to prove someone wrong for no reason and then proved entirely wrong; its quite clear you do need english lessons, so just put up with it cool
Wouldn't you love to love me?

Rosie Gaines.

With the powerful vocals, it makes the song very dymanic sounding and full of emotion.

I listen to it a lot.

My original post was simply stating that there was another option,as there were only three options when the thread started. Then i presumed that the next post had the bands name wrong. From then on it got a little messy, apology's all round.
Anyway back to the thread, THE FAMILY'S version.

Sinead really captures the complex dark psychology of the song. It is truly a brilliant composition but for some reason Prince does not want to probe that side. He turns it into a big band vamp instead of the achingly beautiful heartfelt sympathy card it should be. Maybe it's the same reason he killed "Wally".
