Anyone else feel so embarrased for 'stars' who perform on stage with P..

over the last few days I watched Elton John sing at the 02 arena, Lenny play along to Peach at the 94 Palladium NYC aftershow [2 painful] and the RRHOF. Simply put, our man is a bad ass perfomer and really does show up [deliberately?] how inflexible, scripted and generally average other so called stars / ledgends can be. Yet, whatever situation[The JB / MJ incident aside!] you put P into he will use his improv skills to really shine.
Thankyou, good night!. razz

how did you get to watch Elton - i was there and yes it was a bit embarassing
"C'mon y'all - let me hear you sing, c'mon y'all, shake, c'mon y'all, jump" - Yes Prince -
"London do you feel for me what I feel for you"- yes Prince -
"Can I play my guitar now?" - yes please

I was there too, I was sitting about 4 rows back from where Elton was sitting. I saw him take his seat before the show started, and thought to myself 'I hope he doesn't guest on stage'. Later in the show I noticed him get up and go under the stage and thought 'Oh no!!' It was really embarassing when he either missed his queue/forgot the lyrics, and Prince had to go up and point out the lyric sheet on the opposite side of the stage. At the end of the song, Elton put his arms out to hug Prince, but Prince just shook his hand *ouch*

I've only just thought about this, after reading your post, but I really think that maybe he learnt a HUGE lesson after the butt-clenchingly embarrassing James Brown/Micheal Jackson fiasco. I reckon he must have thought to himself "I'll be fucked if I let that happen again - I will never be put into that situation again" and went and worked on his improv skills and made sure he was always prepared from then on.

I saw him do 'Get on the boat' with Will I am at an aftershow and Will did look a teensy bit like a muppet, very unrehearsed and a bit shoddy.

Does Prince only do guest appearances on his terms now? Hmmm... interesting - thanks for this thread Funkyhead

Exactly. Prince is tops when it comes to performing and this thread is proof right here.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I have seen Prince, gracefully give up the spot light to Alicia Keys and when she tried to get him to sing with her, he shook his head no and only played for her. Same with Musiq Soul Child, he played and stayed in the shadows. It was still His show though. So it depends probably on who it is. Same with Bonnie Boyer, Rosie GAines, Larry Graham, it depends on who the person is I believe.
