Can I just THANK P for making Black Sweat?

I know this song aint one of the oldies, however I just dont think I can EVER get tired of this song!

Prince brings so much Linn Funk in my ears I think my head is going to go in2 a musical promentalshitbackwashpsycosis.

I mean, look...the hi hats are just choppy and distorted on purpose. The Snare has been put to max reverb effect to where it sounds like its pounding with 100 handclaps going at the same time and only recorded on 22khz. The WEstide keys are ok, however they are a little loud. Although I do 4give that with Prince's falcetto and funky 80's lyrical delivery. Not to mention one of his best stylish videos to date.

Prince if u just made this up or just had it in the vault for years and just decided to release it THANK YOU. I still get chills when I hear this song!

yes, you can thank P, but you run the risk that he doesn't say: "u're welcome."

Funny you should say that cuz it's my ringtone! lol And when I have a voicemail it does the break in the middle instead: "You can act hard if you want to this groove will make you sweet. . . " LOL! I be letting calls go to voicemail JUST to hear the tones back to back. lol

OMG, a positive thread on the org. I hadn't logged in quite awhile because of all the hate and this is the nicest thread outside of the picture threads. I sure that someone will post soon and destroy the good vibe so I will thank Prince for this funky jam. I love that song!!!!

I have the intro as my regular ringtone and the break part for when someone calls private.

Funny, I was just listening to this song today on my iHome. It's on my random wake-up playlist. The alarm goes off, Black Sweat starts playing, my head gets moving, and I'm up and out of bed jamming.

This has inspired me to play the full 3121 album again.

I still say it's his best commercial pop album since The Gold Experience.

Im not that big on the 3121 album but this for me was the standout track. No f*cking about with over production, no lame ass modern R&B, just everything kept to a minimum. Just a killer groove and great vocal delivery. Sure he's done this before but he's never sounded so slick. A great tune.

Yes I agree with all of you guys. 3121 to me is his best since I'd say Rainbow Children. There is still a mystery to the entire album and it was suprising..didnt really know what to expect with each tune. Im still left wondering what he was in the studio wearing when he sung this song? Was it recorded in 1983 and re-vamped? It's short and to the point and doesnt go on for 6 minutes (although I wouldve loved if there was an extended version). I heard dance mixes galore, however nothing beats that beat and Prince's high vocal. And it was also a highlight on the tour. With the lights dark and blue.

I like Black Sweat; it has a great beat reminiscent of Bob George. My only problem is that the chorus always kinda fades away just as it sounds like it's about to really get going.

I like this song but the high tone in it really makes me crazy. I feel like a dog who hears a dog whistle. I cannot put the song louder because of that tone.

I was so happy to hear at the O2 that it didn't have the high tone in it, great song.
