This thread reminds me of something that bothered me about "Under the Cherry Moon." It's that scene where Prince/Christopher Tracy is approached by this hefty dark-skinned sister and he runs away screaming like a girl.

Prince's preference is for brunette, tan colored white women or fair skinned Hispanic or black women.

There are always a few exceptions, such as Nona Gaye,who is darker skinned black and Kim Basinger who is very fair and blonde, but in general he has a certain "look" that he goes for.

now if it had been someone beautiful who just happened to be dark skinned it might be a statement about dark skin being in some way unappealing, but i think it's more a moment of realization for him about his clientel...a middle aged woman who is very unattractive regarless of skin tone...
