Rock N roll is alive, and he lives in Minneapolis If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

[Edited 2/5/08 8:21am] it wasn't goofy ..it was a minnesota vikings jacket he had on man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

I love the arrangement on this song. It goes through different modes and transitions very nicely. I think its highly underrated. Sonny and Mike were KILLIN' IT on this song. The rhythm section is tight!!!! Its a good track.

What happened to the org?
Specifically, what happened to the spelling at the org? And, what happened to the people who know about Prince songs at the org? Weird...

It is interesting that you mention the Steve Vai influence since Steve Vai jammed with Prince in the late summer of '95 at Paisley Park.
It was when Paisly Park was open Tuesday through Saturday each week and featured various bands/DJs on the nights that Prince wasn't playing. Steve Vai was playing a local venue and came out after his show to play with Prince. I was there that evening and was hoping that we would be able to sit in on the jam session but they closed down Paisley - there were less then 20 people there that night so we were hopeful that we could stay since the rumor was that Vai was going to be jamming with Prince. I remember walking out and seeing Steve Vai sitting next to the sound stage looking like a cool rock and roll guy. I went out the next day to find a CD of his and sure enough it was the guy I had seen the night before. Sonny and Michael were also in the house that evening so I am sure it was an impressive jam session. I asked security at Paisley the next time I was out there how the jam session was and he said it was absolutely incredible. This all happpend about the same time that he laid down the crowd samples for Rock and Roll is Alive. He was suppose to be in Cleveland that night but did not attend the event at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Instead he gave the crowd a lecture about how he was friends with Lenny and all but that Lenny was wrong on his new album(Rock and Roll is Dead). He then had the crowd sing Rock and Roll is alive and lives in Minneapolis, this was later used on the recording. Anyway, it is interesting to here that there is some Steve Vai in the mix on this song since he was there so close to its recording. Peace.

It's OK.. I think it seems as if it was supposed to be the opposite of Lenny's dark, "Rock & Roll is Dead".
I'll take Lenny's song hands-down.. It is the best song that he's ever made, IMHO..
