was there any promotion for Planet Earth in the US? ?
i can't remember. 3121 had a lot of promotion back home. he performed a lot of the songs live on tv and made a real effort with those since all of them looked and sounded absolutely great (fury-3121-satisfied) there was the whole 21 nights in london stint but apart from that, if you weren't a prince fan, would you have known he had an album out? another thing i can't remember if there was ever a full video for the lead off single "guitar". i remember the snippets on the verizon add, but i don't recall ever seeing the entire video. right now, after the promotion he did for musicology and 3121, i feel that planet earth has worn out very quickly, even by prince's means. sometimes it feels as if the entire album was just thrown together as a means of testing different distribution channels. like guitar was a deal inked with verizon and then he just assembled an album around it which he ended up distributing through the daily mail deal. beyond that, or maybe because of all that, this album feels less like a genuine prince album than anything he released in years imo. though perhaps i'm wrong. i can't recall if he hyped the songs on the album during his last vegas shows. did he play any of them live? and, wasn't there something on 7-7-07 in minneapolis? i'm dragging behind in my knowledge of performances, seriously. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

He did the whole 7-7-07 thing. There was a Video for Guitar. FBM, Guitar, ITOUWC an SHOE have all received radio play though there were no releases. Christian Zombie Vampires

I thought the full "Somewhere Here on Earth" music video was supposed 2 finally premiere, on Italian T.V. mind U, on January 14th. I also thought Prince was going 2 b per4ming a concert in the USA, on January 31st. So WTF happened why were those cancelled? [Edited 2/5/08 14:42pm] Stuck like glue!

In my world there was nothing other than the Verison commercial, though I know from the org that FBM got some airplay.
You could almost count the Superbowl, as it created a lot of hype before the album got released. But Vegas and his award show appearances like Alma seemed to promote 3121 more. My Legacy

i think the whole planet earth 'era' was pretty much dead in the water as soon as the newspaper buzz died down. he's obviously taking a break what with his website being down and all, although why the website couldn't simply stay up and not be updated on a regular basis is beyond me. whatever happens next with his website, i don't expect a return of the PE project. it'll be all new and different. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

In a word? No. The phone promotion was really about the phone, not the song.
