Plus I don't think they tore down the stage after Friday's show and then reassembled it Sunday. Of course I could be wrong. "Always blessings, never losses......"

I still have the videotape of all the local newscasts of when I was waiting in line waiting for the coliseum box office to open. It was 1997 in the middle of August and it was hot as hell. Sweat was dripping from all of our bodies. On one of the news clips, I'm sitting on the sidewalk holding an umbrella to give me some shade and fanning with a piece of paper. Too bad the film didn't have sound or it would have caught me cussing....."Damn, it's hot as hell out here!".
My favorite was watching some of the interviews on the news of the fans that didn't know a damn thing about Prince. Some of them were correct when they said this was the first time Prince returned to Jackson since he came with Rick James. However, the dumbass said it was 1976. Hell, neither Prince or Rick even had a record deal back then. Andy is a four letter word. | |

Some on here knows that I'm in the footage of the premire at Mann's Chinese Theatre for the Purple Rain film. I'm on the Special Edition Purple Rain dvd. Anyways, I had to spend the night in front of the Mann's to get my ticket. It was complete bedlam. The line looped around this huge ass block TWICE before tickets went on sale. Everybody was trying to get in because if u had a ticket to the premire, that meant that u got to sit with the whole cast from the film and other celebs that showed up. Anyways, I was smart and got there hella early. Around 11 oclock the night before.Around 7 or 8 that next morning, with hundreds and hundreds of people all jammed up in front of the box office, waiting for it to open, this news team for Ch 5 came out to cover it. The reporter came straight to me I think for two reasons; One because I was third in line and way up in the front and two because of the way I looked. I had this white headband on (the same one I wore to the premire) ala Hendrix/Dez and my hair was stacked to the sky. The reporter asked me why on earth would I want to spend the night to see a movie when I could have easily waited untill it was officially released that Friday. I said some shit like cuz I didn't WANT to wait untill Friday when I could see it a day sooner. Later that day, while we were STILL in line, it was shown on t.v. where my mother and some of my friends saw me. This is definately the short version because it was crazy as hell. Not just the two day journey of getting the ticket to the premire but at the premire as well.
WOW, excellent story, thanx for sharing, I might just throw on my PR DVD later and see if I can spot you.  If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.
