Prince inspired treads Ok, how many of you have bought or made clothes inspired by Prince. Back in the late 80´s early 90´s I had some of the following:
Trenchcoat with pyramid studs ala 1999/PR era Waistcoats String ties Low cut boots with a braclet, similar to cowboy boots but cut much shorter. Polka dot shirts and scarfs High waist pants Paisley shirts Bandanas Silk shirts Zoot suit Leather jacket with tassles Butterfly winged shirts Pants with buttons down the sides of legs Poufy shirts, you know the ones with the real baggy arms Braces Full length coats of all discription There are a few things I have forgotten, but I do remember a mate of mine once buying a silk blouse in a womans clothes shop, he was a bowie fan, and used hang around with bikers alot, brave lad If anyone has pictures, it would be great to see them, I dont really have many of that time, as I dont think my family were to keen on encouraging me If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

I sewed them on myself and I HATED sewing (still do). I remember I was afraid that people would laugh about it but I was very proud of my pants and my friends all liked it. And there was a period, late eighties, that I wore low high heeled boots, looking a little like Prince shoes. Don't know if this counts but with carnaval (we have that here) I wore a very feminine blazer with lace and lots of "lady" pins sewed on them. I felt like Sheila E

I did a muslin blazer first when I was making my suit jacket and I wrote on it in different colors and it reminded me of Alphabet Street...That's what I called it and I wore it at school in college when I was working on it like it was my lab coat...I still have it too!! Still can fit in it... Um... let me warm up my vocals

Aren't you celebrating it?

I made a Rifat Ozbek suit in 1988 that had a black skirt with a high, boned waist and a short, double-breasted jacket with a stand-up collar and big shoulder pads in a black-and-white stripe. I wore it with high-heeled pumps that had toes and heels out of black embossed leather, white leather sides, and fagotted inserts in tiny black-and-white polka dots. And a pair of gloves with pearl-trimmed lace on the backs.
It was very Lovesexy and totally smashing. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

It was very Lovesexy and totally smashing. foxylady! 80's were real glam.. the hair brushed all over the side so the hairline eventually gained a kinda wave all of it's own. needed a ton of laquer at first just 2 make it stay. it would eventually evolve & just stayed all on it's own..no laquer required... my husband then bf had heavenly hair. natural ringlets! he used 2 prince it up 2 the max then there were pixie boots with kitten heels. so many pairs. i had a favourite coat embelished in black satin. huge shoulder pads & massive blinged-out brooches.. i remember being heavily in2 paisley. recently i found some old pics from late 80's/early90 of my husband..wearing my stuff! i'd 4gotten tht we used 2 share shirts/tops. paisley

It's not about clothes but about interior. I had my mom furnish an entire couch in my room with shiny dark purple/blue Paisley cloth. Poor mom sewed everything by hand And I had a bed cover in soft pink and purple Paisley. I was so satisfied with my room. In Barcelona there was this store Beardsley and they had lots of Paisley stuff like little boxes with Paisley design. I found Paisley so baroque, loved the motive on fabric.

My brother, a Prince fan, rode motocross. He had an all purple suede motocross suit made (jacket and pants), one of his two bikes had purple trim. Ha, ha, I wish I had a photo, so you all could see it.
