i wasnt saying anyhting about Wendy & Lisa's color, im talking his music not sounding R&Bish enuff 2 him, and thus thinking he was falling away from his black audiences. Its probably NOT the reason he dropped them but after they left, BLACK ALBUM came out. R&B Funk & even his first rap song came out Dead On It...

apparently that is a bit of a tradeoff, as in, prince would rather have black than quality.

It's probably because he was breaking up with wendy's sister...? oh well...

no no no um um. This fac is 2 good. The Balck Album came out, The rappin on Grafitti Bridge and rest of albums after that, ADORE! Dont tell me that Wendy & Lisa could've helped cre8 that.

Wendy & Lisa has created good music with him, but the fact stands still, that Prince wanted 2 be back at his roots

Are you actually telling me "ANY" of the ventures of "TRYING" to incorporate Rap worked, or sounded even remotely good? I'll give him a "thataboy" for his decent attempt on "18 & Over" but other than that, hit the bricks.

I don't think he tried to become "more black" after Wendy and Lisa left (SOTT or Lovesexy are hardly Hip hop, R&B, or Ganster rap !). But I do agree that he has become "more black" over the last few years.
Just look at the celebrities he associates himself with on NPGMC (Macy Grey, Common, Chuck D, the Williams sisters), and his choice of collaborators and re-mixers (Chuck D, Eve, The Neptunes). Not to mention songs like "Family Name", which I couldn't imagine him doing a few years ago ("race, in the space I mark human."!)

WHAT IS TRYING TO BE "BLACK"?
Despite what some of you may believe Prince doesn't have to "try" to be black, as you put it, because He is Black! Both of his parents are black, he's not half nothing but half black and half black.
Now as far as his music goes I think he is able to make the music he wants to make with the messages that he wants to say because of his freedom to do as he wishes which was some of the things he discussed on the NPGMC website. With WB he wasn't allowed to sing about the things he wanted to sing about because of their decison and control, as in the song "Face Down". I remember reading in an interview a few years back (I don't remember the article), but Prince said he wanted to sing more songs dealing with being black and the record company refused so when Emancipation came out he put lines in a few of the songs about dealing with being black("Face Down", "Style", "Da Da Da").

Trying 2 incorporate the "Black" sound back in his music again. That's what i mean. Do be so "stand up 4 rights" gotdamn. IN THE MUSIC.

Purple Rain
Parade
Around The World In A Day

were mostly called out from other influences. They were damn good albums 2!!! But was just saying he thought he could go back to dooing hardcore R&B / funk, and "try" rap. Especially when Grafitti Bridge came out, and The NPG members alone,. the NPG albums themselves, more like a 90's Funkadelic celebration
