A rare 1999 outtake. I think Posessed was the only other one circulating. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

"Do Yourself A Favor" was later released by Jesse Johnson on his "Shockadelica"-Album. But the Credits says that it was written by Jesse and Pepe Willie - no Prince-mention. Does anybody know why is that? -----------------------------------------

"Turn It Up" was recorded in late 1981 or early 1982, which makes it a likely candidate for the "1999" album (the "Controversy" album having already been released in mid-October 1981). According to TURN IT UP 2.0, "Turn It Up" was slated for the "1999" album, but was jettisoned when Prince came up with the similarly-styled, but vastly superior "Delirious". . Because Prince didn't write it. That song was recorded by Pepe Willie and his band, 94 East of which Prince and Andre were members (unofficially) in the late 70's. Their early version of the song can be found on most of the many releases from those sessions, although the song is listed on these releases as being titled "If You See Me", and has Pepe singing lead. Not sure why Jesse got a co-writing credit on the song when his version (at least, to my recollection) is virtually identical to Pepe's and Prince's. Jesse didn't even live in MN in those days. I have heard stories that Prince demoed the song because he initially wanted Jesse to sing it for the What Time is It? album. But he later decided against it. Jesse remained pissed about never having been allotted a lead vocal spot on a Time album, so he cut the song himself for his own album. Personally, I have always liked Prince version. Another great outtake! -SWANGlikestohearhimselftalk/type
