Private Joy!!! IMHO Private Joy is one of Prince's most underrated songs. I have been pumping this jam a lot lately in my car driving to and from work. The vocal arraignments are mind blowing. I'm not sure why this one wasn't released as a single. Even without it being a single, it got plenty of radio play back in the day on SF Bay Area radio.
Any one else feeling this song? "Always blessings, never losses......"

Any one else feeling this song? I remember losing my damn mind when they played this @ a Prince party...I was shocked! I Love the arrangement too. In the top 3 of my all time favorite Prince songs. Private Joy is TOTALLY underrated. In fact the entire Controversy Album is underrated IMO.
Is it true Private Joy was about Susan Moonsie? I am convinced Beyonce's career would not be where it is, if she had dark skin. | |

Agred. It should have been a single. SoulAlive and myself have said this on here for years. It would have done very well on r&b and pop stations in 81. It would have given him the crossover crowd that he wanted much earlier. Don't know what the hell warner's was thinking about. This song is an ode to The Police's "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic". Listen to the end of that song with the keyboards and listen to P's keyboards on Private Joy.
