I keep hearing this but didn't Shockadelica By Jesse Johnson come out in 1986 and wasn't Shockadelica the song by Prince a b-side to a Sign O the Times single that was released in 1987???? it's true that jesse's album came out in 86 but prior 2 it's release, prince had the local mpls station play the song shockadelica in 86 man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81 | |

The main reason that other artists 'do' use outside help is mainly because they're not talented enough to do it themselves. For example, Michael Jackson is merely Quincy Jones's puppet. but freddy...you gotta admit...he's been tryin to be pretty mainstream with his last few releases...thus in my mind, trying to make a hit or two.... wouldn't it be cool to hear a different producers take on Princes music...it would still be Princes music, you know he's gonna write all of it... a good producer would lend a fresh perspective and possibly fresh sound... | |

Shocadelica is a great song about not allowing drugs to run your life..
It wasn't like The Time wasn't spouting-off either... Prince put most of his attacks in his lyrics because he was the big dog of The Minneapolis Sound Era. He could've been fighting this guys forever, but they were all back together in 5 years (Graffiti Bridge). I don't think it's right to get-into the past interviews, because some bitter orgers are applying it to recent times/friendships. Lenny invited Prince to solo on "American Woman" a time or two during his tour in those days (before Rave N2000) So, all of this false accusations is just bitter-rumor-starting in hopes that Prince hears about this topic. Lenny was quoted as wanting to end his performance because Mr. Nelson's solos scorched the show. TLC also invited him to solo on certain tourstops. Sheryl Crow? They were having better years then, but kept inviting Prince, and working with him time after time. Lenny also keeps mentioning forming a "Traveling Wilburys" type of All-Star Funk-Rock outfit with Prince and Terance Trent D'Arby.. Why is that? Lenny appears at "The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction".. If you wanted Prince to appear with these people, or the The Family Jam a couple of years back, then it's kind of hypocritical to argue about upstaging... He was definitely pulling these false/strained faces, and at towards te end of the track signals to/instructs Kravitz to let him take the solo alone. There is no doubt in my mind that I think Prince is a better guitar player than Lenny, but Lenny definately seemed way more comfortable and relaxed than Prince during the 2 tracks they did together! Notice how prince almost never does a duet or features another big artists on his songs unless it's a female. Notice how he never has other producers to write his songs for him. Imagine if he had Dr. Dre, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, Rodney Jerkins and Neptunes helping him to write songs. But.... NO!!!!! He doesn't want to be upstaged. Prince is a moron. The reason that Prince doesn't use other producers to write is songs simply because it will then not be his music!!! He is creative and talented. These artist today ain't nothing compared to him or stevie wonder. As a matter of fact, prince was on his album a time to love and conversation peace.
