Mate, if you're only getting one you need to make it a long one!

You have to be careful with that alot of Prince songs have an irregular beat and can be quite hard to dance to(that comment is directed to those that don't know his stuff. We find it very easy, but then we got the funk!)

Prince isn't your average commercial poppy regulated tempo dance that is expected at parties - his music is alot more orchestrated. It is even more apparent when mixed in with this type of music - I've seen quite a few dancefloors clear or become awkward because average Joe can't get away with their little 2 step shuffle dance!

From personnal experience I would say (I know you said one but seriously - It's me talking here!!!)

Controversy (there's a dance remix version that 2 many DJ's use. its wicked!)
Lets work (extended)
D.M.S.R.
Let's go crazy (extended)
Erotic city (extended)
Kiss (extended)
Girls and Boys
U got the Look (long look - this goes down very well)
Theives in the Temple (ext or remix)
NPG (fuky weapon remix - except I doubt anyone will know the song!!!)
Gett Off (housestyle only - I've yet to fnd a non-prince fan that can dance to the original!!!)
Musicology - if you really wanna jazz/funk the joint?!

Maybe not as much but just as good fun is

Little red corvette (ext dance mix)
Alphabet street (full rap version)
Baby I'm a star
1999 - guaranteed to have every-one shouting out"1999"

I'm not sure whether that as helped or just confused matters even more and made it worse, but it's all with good intention.

Remember to post what got chosen - definitely push for more than 1 though!

headbang

you forgot to mention Dayz of wild, crystal ball version, if that dont get people moving, then i have no idea what will wink
If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

A good statement to make, but such a terrible song! I think it will ruin his chances of having any Prince played at all at the next one!!!

yeah, Lady Cab Driver is very danceable, gives you some funk, and a little freakyness near the end. Perfect smile (although probably not at a Princeton-ish young republicans kinda party, I suspect...Alex P. Keaton and Prince WILL not mesh)

hmmm...or...Girls & Boys, or something like 18& Over could work too... 69

Miserable bastards! What's wrong with them? wink

I recently organised a hen night and we had a stretch limo which happend to have the musicology cd on shuffle with a load of other stuff - I was well pleased, the other miserable bleeders were not impressed. Philastines
I'm not stopping. I haven't even taken my coat off

C'mon and dance while you, while you still have your cherry babe, cherry babe..
