Play file rights from online purchase? I did a search and could not find anyone that posted this issue previously. I purchased both Musicology and Chocolate Invasion from THE SITE several years ago. When I attempt to play these tunes I get the following message:
You do not have the rights to play this file. "Go to the content providers site to find out how to obtain the necessary play rights" - http://man.entriq.net The site gives an error message and I am left with files that I can not play. Ideas? Others experience the same issue? Thanks in advance to all! Cheers! Rob

Sounds like it is the DRM. A google search of how to remove DRM should be helpful. But other than that I have no Idea? "Keep on shilling for Big Pharm!"

Gotcha
I guess my follow up would be, why is this happening? I paid direct to the owner of THE SITE!

The site no longer exists. The music you thought you bought, you really only rented. (Unless you had the presence of mind to burn it to disc.) We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

You should have got the option to back up your liscences when you purchased the albums - if you click yes they should have installed on your HD. I lost all my downloads when My old PCs hard drive got a Trojan worm virus. Luckily I made hard copies, but I've lost my video footage. And with the site now down we can't gain access to our accounts and re-download them Cheers for that Prince!!! Life's a Parade! LoveLife, LoveSexy!

I do indeed have all of the songs on my HD, but I can not play them due to the DRM issue. I suppose I could go thru the removal process, however I'm a bit ticked that SOMEONE didn't think of those that spent $ on their music (using the online option) and left us hangin when "Poof" the site went bi-bi...

Excuse me, but...the site went away a looooong time ago - and this was discussed ad nauseum at the time. In fact, the licenses were still okay for quite awhile after the site went down - during which time many people (including yours truly) warned people that they needed to burn stuff while they could.
You're just discovering that your licenses have gone kaflooey? Listened to that music a lot, did you? We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I appreciate your analysis on my personal listening frequencies however... I did not think I needed to go into detail about how I had the music on am MP3 device that was stolen so I went back to the original tunes on the HD. BUT, since I have now been called out...
I'm very proud of you for having the superior knowledge to warn the town of the dangers ahead, but not all of us have been on this site for a looooong time as you can tell. I was only looking for a little assistance/knowledge on the subject after Google searches provided nada and to express my displeasure of the situation. If I had purchased via the horrible nasty stores instead of direct from the site I would NOT have this problem. Trust has been broken! peace out ~ Genesia said: Excuse me, but...the site went away a looooong time ago - and this was discussed ad nauseum at the time. You also have to remember, that as a person that actually shops at a record store, this didn't happen. "The Lion Sleeps Tonight...

My apologize. You are correct, Invasion did not, Musicology was available via hard copy.

Upgrading Windows Media would lose the DRM location to NPGMC files. It would make the files unplayable. Microsoft had a bug fix for this which corrected the issue.
I posted the link to the patch probably a year ago on here, but other than that, I don't know where the MS WMP bug fix is located anymore. Microsoft likes to bury fixes in obscure locations. If you do get the DRMs reconnected (they're probably not lost), back the files up as WAVs to CDs. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

I would be lost if I bought it online (anything computer confuses me), so I buy mine on CD.

There are other places online to get stuff like 'The Chocolate Invasion' and 'The Slaughterhouse'. |

while i was @ the 02 shows i have talked about this with members of princes band....i asked if they could pass on the message...im n the same boat as most of U also....that DRM is a killer under circumstances like this.
hopefully when the new site launches this will b rectified. prince still has the NPGMC membership on his database as we got e mails during last summer 4 access 2 special NPGMC seating...well if U call F1 n F3 n block 110 special...block 110 were good seats n all fairness. as a mac user most of his stuff wasnt available to us as the drm thingy didnt work for macs. The vids however did and the only one i burned was the vanguard jam. It only plays on a PC which I dont have but at least i can listen to it in my car!!
Its a good lesson in 'backing up' all your music and pics videos anything you hold precious should be backed up to another hard drive, external etc our mac mini died last year and we lost loads of family stuff including all the music I had on it bought from itunes, luckily we have a mate that can retrieve the info from the drive but its still scary when it happens. Computers are just machines and drives fail and in your case got nicked, so do it today go buy another drive plug it in and regularly back up. I wish you luck! walk with crooked shoes www.myspace/syblepurplelishous
