OH MATE!!! They are all MUST HAVE - except 1-800 new funk which is closer to some kind of cd sampler.

And don't miss out on Sheilas self titled 3rd album especially for..

One day (I'm gonna make you mine)
Hold Me
Faded Photographs.

The Jill Jones and Family albums are my 2 favourite associated albums.

Seriously, get them!!!

Is "Hold Me" the same as Prince's version?

Are these albums as funky as The Times?

No. It is still a slow song but not Princes one. I prefer the album to The Glamourous Life, but still undecided if more than Romance 1600. Try to get Holly Rock (Krush Groove soundtrack) from the same year as Romance 1600. Very good.

You can't go wrong with The Family album as it is a Prince album in the fact that he recorded most of the songs himself - the told st paul to sing them like him (or so the story goes) There are even Prince versions of the songs circulating around.

Anxiety

jill jones is probably my favorite non-prince paisley park album. in fact, catch me in the right mood and i'll say it's one of my favorite prince albums. one of my favorite moments from the jill jones album is prince's screechy backing vocals in "for love". drool

yeah, keep it coming, I'm interested.

I guess its cuz I've pretty much cleared out my local "wrecka stows" but I may have to go online for the rest. (The local stock up in the Poconos is never restocked rolleyes ).

I just read up on The Family and that sounds like a must-have because Prince used them to experiment with his own music and determine the direction he wanted to go. Of course, Internet is the only option cuz I heard its out of print.

I've seen The Time: Ice Cream Castle for a decent price in my old neighborhood, but I haven't seen it where I am now rolleyes
Is there any particular "Time" album that comes highly recommended?

"What Time Is It" is IMO better than Controversy and DM.

Wild & Loose, 777-93-11, The Walk, I Don't Wanna Lose You... all excellent tracks.

And funky as hell!

My personal favourites are:

The Family album, The Jill Jones debut and Times waits for no One from Mavis Staples.
Especially the first two are 'must haves' for Prince fans.

The weakest albums IMO are:

Three 'o clocks Vermillion, The Good Edition album and the Carmen Electra one.
