Most awesone intro to a song...Prince #1 !!!

Disc Jockey in Jamaica had a poll on air for people to vote for the most awesome ,creative & original intro in a song...they were given a list of 10 songs ..."Darely beloved..." from lets go crazy was one of 20 songs chosen and it won hands down...is got 65% of the 208 votes...it was a week long survey.
Whats ironic is that Prince is not very likeable among Jamaicans..there is always a negative reply if you mention the name...they find him to be too feminine & weird...and they are only familiar with his Purple rain era stuff...
But there is no denying his ability to be very freaking ORIGINAL.
most callers would say things like "I hate that Prince guy when he was alive, but ..."(ignorant)!!!

I think this will mark a turning point in Prince's popularity.

And for any of you out there who don't agree or like this post,
lemme just say that
if I were getting laid,
this wouldn't be happening.

Jamaicans dont like Prince because of the way he looks rather than his music. I dont usually makes generalizations wink , but Jamaicans are a homophobic bunch of people.

Well,I am a Jamaican ,no offence taken...you are right on that one.
Prince on the other hand could have had a much larger fanbase if it werent for his ,well ,feminine appearance...some guys wouldnt be caught dead touching the lovesexy cd with a cover like that ..its just a MACHO THING WITH STRAIGHT GUYS.
i am a guy (strait) and the biggest Prince fan in the Caribbean...and I find myself at times watching over my shoulds when shopping for his music or asking for it.you get that look .I am not trying to be negative about Prince ,just telling it like it is...
Besides all that ...I remember a couple of friend came over to my place to play dominoes and enjoy some weed ...so i put on the sign o the times dvd and cued it to the point where he did "hot thing" ,as soon as my friends walked in they saw Prince sliding down the stage between Cat's legs ...to my surprise all the guy started barking like dogs ...they found that cool ,then they realized that its a Prince concert...at this point I stopped the concert (pretending). Mark shouted "yow, leave the fucking thing let it play ,its wicked! Wayne shouted "rewind to the beginning...." I was out voted...the guys watched the whole thing ...then came the MJ / Prince debate ...Mark asked "how come People call this guy a fag ? James' quote 'i've never seen anything like this in a MJ
concert ...Mark "I heard that Prince shagged Janet Jackson" Wayne,"now i know why MJ doesnt like Prince ,he popped his sisters' cherry...then the conversation got even more wacky...(must be the weed).

Cool story, I visited Jamaica in 2005 and I loved the place, so much to say that if I had a choice of somewhere to go tomorrow morning it would be to Jamaica again. I dont remember having any conversations about Prince with the locals though, although I did meet up with some cool musicians, but that was due to meeting a guy who writes for a german reggae magazine, while i was there.

The comment about the callers saying "I hate that guy Prince when he was alive, " does not surprise me, but I dont see it in a negative light. The Jamaican way of life is based very much on the island and have fond memories of some Jamaicans explaining to me that guinness is a product of Jamaica. I was very surprised how popular guinness was there, and as I come from Ireland, it was always a topic of conversation. Naturally this was also explained to me, "Guinness is good for the bamboo" biggrin

As for intro´s to songs, the intro to Let´s go Crazy, is what cemented me as a Prince fan back in 1984, I had never heard anything like it, and I immediately loved it and i still do to this day.
If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

"True to his status as the last enigma in music, Prince crashed into London this week in a ball of confusion" The Times 2014

That's really interesting, 3232. I had no idea they viewed Prince in that fashion. I'm always curious about how different countries view, not only Prince, but musicians and artists in general. I wonder which country on Earth harbors the strongest universal love for Prince....
