I sincerely want to fuck the taste out of your mouth... this was the first thing i read when i started visiting this site - i thought b....y hell charming not realising it was a lyric from one of Prince's song "Lets pretend we're married" - i can see why he might want to erase certain lyrics etc. and i can definitely see why he might not want to sing them at concerts for 20,000 paying fans.
On the other hand it reminds me of Frank Zappa and a few others whose lyrics could be pretty edgy (i think that's the word people use now) and which we all thought were fine to listen to and we certainly wouldn't expect those lyrics/songs to disappear. So i cannot see how Prince is actually going to achieve what he wants to especially as he is now a JW and how he is going to live with it all - what does anyone else think? "C'mon y'all - let me hear you sing, c'mon y'all, shake, c'mon y'all, jump" - Yes Prince -
"London do you feel for me what I feel for you"- yes Prince - "Can I play my guitar now?" - yes please

songs like this will remain firmly in his past but i hope they still make him smile.
the song always makes me laff...let's pretend were married & go all night - yeah right... it's quite a sweet sentiment really, & then he chucks this line in! 'I sincerely want to fuck the taste out of your mouth...' [Edited 1/24/08 18:13pm]

I think that fucking cocksucker should sure as shit start using some bitch-ass, prick, cunt, whore, dick-lick curse words again.
Seriously. 'Cause swearing is pretty cool. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

The rest of the song isn't NEARLY as vulgar. Its a real simple song too, not very outstanding.

That lyric was the reason i fell for princes music. God I miss those days. Edgy ruff and ready to just push culture.

I, for one think it's a stroke of genius. He's just saying how he feels about a young lady. Rock is all about being shocking and talking about sex. Maybe we can go to the movies and cry together

I think that lyric is hilarious. It's too ludicrous not to be. That's what I like about Prince's early years - there was a certain level of wit there that just isn't present with all the misogynistic Shit Hop acts out now.

The whole track makes me laugh - at this point in his life he obviously wasn't married... anyone who IS married will know that the all night kinky sex sessions hit the road the minute the wedding band hits the finger!
... or erm... it could just be me... I'm not stopping. I haven't even taken my coat off

She LOVES the song but had no idea it was about sex. I hope i didn't ruin it for her.

"God is Love, Love is God." Whatever. However, it's a safe bet that 99% of the people on this site prefer the Prince of 1999, Purple Rain & Sign o' the Times to the Prince of The Rainbow Children, N.E.W.S. & Planet Earth.

If you re-word that to 99% probably prefer the P music of the 80´s to the 00´s, you are probably 99% right, but we cant live in the past forever. Prince is never going to blow our minds like those dayz again, in fact I cant see anyone ever having that type of effect again, in fact i cant think of anyone since the 80´s that has had such an effect. One could mention maybe the likes of nirvana and so on, but they mostly lasted 5 yrs max. Madonna also got close, but musically is way behind. Not to forget Springsteen, the Cure and U2, but again it is a case of joy in repetition. If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.
