Ummmm...that was kind of my point. I'm not sure any of the threads here qualify as normal. lol

lol

In behavior, normal refers to a lack of significant deviation from the average. The phrase "not normal" is often applied in a negative sense (asserting that someone or some situation is improper, sick, etc.). Abnormality varies greatly in how pleasant or unpleasant this is for other people; somebody may half-jokingly be called "pleasantly disturbed".

The Oxford English Dictionary defines "normal" as 'conforming to a standard'. This, although almost right, is not entirely correct. "A normal" is someone who conforms to the ideals of society. This can be for any number of reasons, ranging from the positive (genuine admiration for and acceptance of society's standard, for example) to the negative (fear of humiliation, fear of rejection, fear of being thought mad).

From the Latin Normalis (f).

The French sociologist Emile Durkheim indicated in his Rules of Sociological Method that the most common behavior in a society is considered normal. People who do not go along are violating social norms and will invite a negative reaction from others in the society. For example, if most drivers speed five or ten MPH over the speed limit, and one is observing the speed limit, the legal driver is not behaving normally, and is likely to get sanctioned with headlights, the horn, or aggressive driving. However, non-conforming behavior is inevitable, and is punished in proportion to the offense the behavior generates in other people in society. Therefore, a range of social sanctions can be employed, from ill feelings and a negative assessment in response to violations of folkways (lowest-level rules), to anger and violence in response to violations of mores (mid-level rules), and formal fines, imprisonment, or execution for violations of laws (the most significant rules

Normal is a setting, that u choose to be in or choose not to be in, however, when happiness escorts you from normal, your behavior creates laughter, and peace of mind...When tragedy escorts you from normal, The individual will express qualities that have remained hidden until challenged.

By starting this thread you're making yourself no better than what you wish to or seem to condemn!!!

There is more than enough thread space on that front page alone, for serious, objective, speculative, trivial, comedy, damn right stupid and vs threads.

They are not disguised, you know exactly what you will be going into, therefore if you're not interested then just don't click on it!

It couldn't be more simple!

Although now, am 'I' any different by having a dig at you, as 'you' having a dig
at them? confused

There are millions of us on this site. Millions of reasons to click and post or not post. I, myself, started visiting the site because I am a devoted fan since the tender age of 13 (38 now) and was thrilled to get to indulge in Prince related anything---stupid, intelligent, funny, completely wack, and everything in between.

How true, me too.

I don't mind the serious stuff either and it's good to share experiences and knowledge - but it does got a bit too much sometimes and that's when I stay out of those threads.

I feel for tricky99 at the moment who started a thread which I though was quite well explained, very fair and not agressive at all.

I can not believe how it got twisted the way it did and how the statements and opinions that were put forward digressed from the original point for what seemed like the sake of an argument!!!

It was nice to be able to escape from that and just click on the lighter ones!!
