What year would you say that Prince was at the peak of his career in all facets of the game?

When did he have it together in the stuidio, live performances, and business(sales) wise?

I would have to say 1987 followed closely by 1984……..

In 1987 he was still brilliantly creative in the studio with sign of the times…….he was also a tour de force live at this time……unlike now where he doesn’t dance and is nothing more than a 70’s tribute band ……he was still mega rich not having to sell his clubs to pay the light bills at paisley park and doing rich folks birthday parties. he was also getting booty with three fine women at the same time(Sheila, cat,Easton) a feat he has yet to replicate.

87 was his peak of the mountain!

Do you agree?

Between 1983, with 1999, new video channels, and 1984 with Purple Rain, "The Movie" As u would label a football player in his Prime, You would say that a 25-26 year old Prince, was playing ball in his prime.

1983-1984

Has own hit albums, has hit songs for other artists, has a hit movie & tour. Is perceived as strange, but only a few people know what an asshole he is.

Hasn't come close since.

smile Agree to disagree brother. Most of SOT and the Madhouse/Jill Jones albums were written in 1986, my year. In 87 he only released and toured SOT. In 87 he wrote some of the Black Album and the crapola that made up Lovesexy. Also 87 Prince tried ecstacy and he was all alone, being a recluse, hiding in Paisley Park and messing about with THE first Garcia girl (her name escapes me)

1986, He had the geat tour with the revolution of Europe which gave him his huge Nordic and Germanic fan base, and he made up with English audiences after thed 85 awards snubbing and cancelled 83 show. Also he was writing many superlative Jams and having his relationship with Susannah Melvoin, possibly his only partner anyone could really respect and possibly also an equal of Prince so for me its 1986 cool as his annis mirablis

I always say like this ... he was on a roll in the 80's ... and consistant right up through to GB. D&P was good, LS reasonably good, post LS has been period of
less consistancy.

depends on what you consider "peak" if you are talking commercially, unfortunately, nothing came close to purple rain and its commercial success.

I say around 2004 only because I think this is where I noticed that he seemed to be completely embraced by the country (US) as a whole. Prior to that, it seemed like he was more of a "weirdo", etc, but I think around 2004 he really solidified himself as an icon. I'm not saying his popularity grew, etc, but he seemed to go from "weirdo" to "the man".... does that make sense???

1985 - wrapped up the purple rain tour -hugely successful film, tour, album and the world eating out of his hand and waiting eagerly to see what he'd do next.

imo, he peaked with purrple rain & parade.
he surprised everyone & peaked again with sott, then after couple yrs again with lovesexyy.
he's such a peaker!
in his nawty 40's he peaked again just 2 piss off all his haters.
he's bound 2 do something peak worthy in his 50's cuz he completely peak driven cool
