ok guys cuz i got ppl saying my last thread titled Emancipation vs Musicology was unfair(Emancipation is 3 discs as you know) ill change it 2 this.I am not to keen on Planet Earth and only like 3 songs on that album,altho Somewhere Here On Earth is 1 of my fav Prince ballads.Musicology has Call My Name and A Million Days.So this time my choice is Musicology simply because it fts more great tunes than Planet Earth.(even tho most will disagree )

Musicology is a very good consistent album from beginning to end, but there is not one song that makes me go Wow, or, that's one of my favourites!

Planet Earth is not a consistently good album and less tracks, but has Guitar and Somewhere here on Earth and personally I've always loved Lion of Judah (not a favourite on the org tho) and going on from the live O2 shows I'm liking Chelsea Rodgers, and the 1 U wanna C and Future Baby Mamma have grown on me.

Purely based on how much I like the first 3 songs I've mentioned over most of what's on Musicolgy I'm gonna take the plunge and say Planet Earth!!

I'm gonna come back to this, after listening to them both today, and try to choose between them, although that is the hardest thing 4 me to do...because, the vocals, the content, and the music, have always been songs in part that are whole unto themselves, and then gathered for that particular cd...I don't know if I can do it.

Musicology, for the title track alone. I love that song too much it always makes me dance whatever mood I'm in.

Musicology 4 me!

Listening to both Planet Earth and Musicology, on Shuffle....told me one thing besides, I Love them both.

Musicology has more track overlays, producing a deeper quality. As to where "Planet Earth" has some recorded limits that are obvious when walking from speaker to speaker.

With Planet Earth, I have the same sound coming through both speakers, with "Musicology" I've got different vocals coming from each side. And to mention, The song, "Musicology" says all vocals Prince. Wrong.

I like Musicology more than PE, I find it to be a more solid album as a whole.

But Musicology is Prince trying to be classy by bringing back the music he grew up with... so that concept earns it some points...

For me,

Planet Earth- 8.5/10
Musicology- 7/10

There is no song on "Musicology" that's as good as "Somewhere Here On Earth" so Planet Earth wins for me! Besides, I actually hate Musicology . It's my least fave Prince album ever. I haven't listened to it in over a year.

I like Musicology. I love Planet Earth.

Im gonna go for Planet Earth, basically because theres nothing as truly awful as Life O The Party on it. I think Call My Name and Reflection are two songs on Musicology that IMO are Prince at his best but PE just hangs together better and it doesn't have those chintzy horns all over it.

Planet Earth is definitely the stronger album, but just seems to have a lower production value. This was the same case with 3121. Both albums could have been killer, but the focus that was evident in Musicology is not there on 3121 and PE, at least when I listen to it.
