Not even close. ATWIAD is probably around number 10 on my best Prince albums list. It paved the way for the brilliant experimentation and fully realized songs on Parade. IMO, Parade is one of the greatest albums of all time by any artist. | |

I actually did not like ATWIAD when I first heard it back in 1985. And it one of only two Prince albums I have not up graded to CD yet. | |

We had this same thread at the end of last week and guess what? my opinion hasn't changed! It's also kind of the same as jdcxc's. "PARADE!!!! Purely because it is a tighter album and Prince seemed to be more focused. It is one of the best albums ever!! But lets not dismiss the importance of ATWIAD. without it there would be no Parade! Well, not as we know it! ATWIAD is Princes most daring project where he walked away from the commercial success of PR and took the bold move to do his thing. ATWIAD is an amazing collection of singles (and b-sides) that showcase a new direction in his music but I don't think as a whole it is as strong or as 'complete' as Parade. And The Ladder should've been replaced with Girl!!! What a shame The Deam Factory didn't follow Parade. A perfect trio of albums!!" [Edited 1/21/08 3:17am] Life's a Parade! LoveLife, LoveSexy! | |
