I just saw Lovesexy tour 88! That is the best most complete concert of his songs I've ever seen!
Wow how time flies! He was so young vivid and carefree, it seems like yeasterday when lovesexy was new,Those were the days! Just think the days of mayte were yet to come, it just got better until Diamonds & Pearls. Prince is the Best! Nobody close to him or like him he's different in a way that I Identify with. Passionate,Intelligent and Sensitive Perfect recipe to be an Artist. Well Bowie is close to him but not like him..... I'd say Prince has Bowies Creativity and Jaggers Energy and Hendrix talent... Still he manages to be original. We all want a big hit again because
we want to relive the Hysteria & Pandemonium we experienced when Purple Rain was Hot. Actually, he doesn't care if it happens again or not.

GO GO GO! GO GO GO!"), he also gives himself space during concerts to improvise and introduce new sounds and songs from time to time. even though bowie has been damn good at creating a sense of spectacle throughout his career, you truly NEVER KNOW what you're going to get when you go to a prince concert.

Agreed, I'd sure like to hear Princes version of China Girl and for that matter Start me up from the Stones. [Edited 1/17/08 19:35pm] We all want a big hit again because

"so young"? Thirty! Yes... yes, you're right... that is young... a whole lot younger than me...
"so carefree" - curious, because I thought this was Prince at his most forthright. The sincerity, or what I took for sincerity, bowled me over. This concert is one of the most powerful pieces of performance I've seen... yet, I've come to realise that that's exactly what it was: performance. As Prince has flipped and flopped through his trends over the years, what I mistook for honesty appears more and more to have been no more than showmanship. Which is a pity. That said, what a concert... perfection from start to end... even given the guitar malfunction in Anna Stesia.

Was this concert on VHS? I have seen the video only on Housequake but was fortunate 2 see it live when he toured here in Los Angeles. Please let me know if this was ever released. Thanks.. Lovesexy Rules

One of the most amazing, dynamic concerts I've ever seen... saw a recording of it from French TV; when he played Paris I believe it was.

My favourite too!!! I liked Prince from '86, but turned 'obssesive' when he released Alphabet St and then Lovesexy. Lovesexy was my first live show on July 27th '88 (I was 16) and it was amazing. It was borderline theatre with no tacky support and a 20/30 minute interval between the 2 acts!!! I have never seen such an elaborate show since by any artist. Truely amazing. Life's a Parade! LoveLife, LoveSexy!

The VHS release is of the Dortmund concert, not Frankfurt... unless you maent you went to the Frantfurt one and have the Dortmund one on VHS... don't mean to be pedantic, but there you are...
...it's still the finest piece of Prince on tape that exists...

Great concert!
His best concert ever released! I'm fortunate to have a laserdisc of the concert, great quality. Sometimes they come up on ebay every now and then, but you need a laserdisc player to play it.

Incredible concert from start to finish. I so wish I could have gone to a show when it was here in NYC. Prince was so on point it was scary. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I adore this concert and was majorly into Prince by the release of this album. Got the double VHS Tapes back in the day and was disappointed I didnt get to see this concert live, as I said before his first concernt in Ireland wasnt til 1990. Last summer I got my tapes converted to DVD and am reliving the concert again! Magic!

Prince definatly done all his greatest work (minus TGE) before I was born. I just wish I was about when all this was comnig on the scene. And I wish I was 18 last summer instead of this summer so i coulda gone to an aftershow at the O2! My mate who got me into Prince was my age when he first got into Prince so its weird for him, seeing me at the same age he was getting into Prince! I got more hits than Madonna's got kids!

As a fan of both too, I'd have to disagree. Bowie is an incredible artist, but when it comes to live performance I'd have to add Prince's talents as a singer, dancer, musician and comic to the improvisational advantage. Back to topic - Incredible show. I saw it in London and it was the best concert I've ever been to.
