Actually it'll be interesting to see how the critics or whatever will see his legacy. Will he be rediscovered by a whole new generation of people. God knows.

Moderator | At the rate the music industry is going, He'll be one of the only ones remembered 100 years from now.
(As far as current recording artists are concerned) I don't care how much money a lot of other current (can you really call them artists?) "artists" are making now, will they really be remembered? I remember a lot of Disco acts that fizzled out of exsistence in just a decade. Hopefully we're going through just another disco age that will pass. All Rights Reserved. |

People will have to remember. It will be part of the software package on the microchip in yo neck. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Thing is will he be remembered for his music or his goofy name changes and preoccupation for puerile displays of sex? test

Litle by little he is geting the recognition for his musical input and all of the showmanship, drag, outrageousness is being put on the backburner. It looks like he is putting the outrage, crazy costumes away ala Elton John in the eighties to focus on the music and his past music legacy. Are we in for a more mature focused Prince? Probably. He is in his fourties. Elton, Mick, Tina et al. have all put away their outrageousness as they matured which is natural. Now to think what is to come with a focus more on music even though he has this fire about the business, Should be nothing short of interesting music up ahead. "Climb in my fur."

100 years from now nobody will care about that stuff. But this is a question that doesn't have a precedence. Rock/Pop/Soul/Funk - whatever, doesn't have the history that older styles of music like Jazz and Classical have. I do think at the very least, most of his music will stand the test of time, but right now we're not dealing with a style of music that can be pointed to in retrospect of 100 years. And if the world exists that long we won't be around anyway. [This message was edited Tue Oct 22 10:19:04 PDT 2002 by Supernova] This post not for the wimp contingent. He'll be remembered as one of the greatest artists of his time and a very prolific one too with a fanbase that's generally as crazy as he is.

YES!
I predict that his music will go down in history as some of the greatest music ever composed and people will admire his work just like we admire Motzart today. Yes people will forget, but it will get rediscovered and celebrated again. True artists are never greatly appreciated in their own time.

DO YOU THINK PRINCE WILL BE REMEMBERED IN ANOTHER 100 YEARS TIME AND IF SO, HOW WILL HE BE REMEMBERED? ~~~ I believe that he will be. Probibly for his talents and his music in general. Do you think Michael Jackson will be as well? ~~~ Dreaming permits each and every one of us to be quietly and safely insane every night of our lives.
