Clash of the Titans -- Adore vs International Lover

These are two of my all-time favorite ballads by Prince. As we all know one is about eternal love (Adore) love -- the other about a funky good time (International Lover) booty!. Today I'm chosing International Lover. Tomorrow or the next day maybe Adore. What's your pick for today?

Actually if you wanted a clash of the titans it would be Do Me baby vs Adore. Do Me Baby carried more weight than Intl.Lover.

Well, I wouldn't go that far. Neither are among my favorite ballads of his. But in this case I'd say Adore takes it.

Good Point...

When you think about it...put any song up against Adore. I'm not saying Adore would be victorious every time, surely most of the time...

As many of you have said already...It the perfect song Easily up there with "Greatest Songs Ever Written" I'll argue that until my tongue goes numb...and that's not happening; I'm a Saxophonist wink

You ever wanted your sweetie to know how you feel, and you just couldn't put it in words, well...

Copy the lyrics to this song, paste it on an Emale, with a brief caption or intro specific to your situation. Then after that...

Until the end of time...that will do the rest!

I don't know whom Prince was in Love with at the time, but you only love somebody that much, once every lifetime

Loves to weak to define, how much I Adore this song...

"...I gave you my heart, I gave you my mind, I gave you my body...I gave you my time..."

Simply Beautiful! It never fails, whenever someone mentions Adore, my posts are always looong...

nah, not Do Me Baby either.

if you want a real clash of the titans, put Adore next to How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore or Nothing Compares 2 U.

then you have some real competition

Do Me is the one where all the women creamed first to Prince...it was all about Do Me Baby believe me. Intl never reached that height for female fanaticism etc. How Come You Dont Call is albeit a great pleading love ballad but most women I know of still hold a torch for Do Me Baby..the phrasing, the come on etc. How Come is just a regular great ballad while Do Me was Prince "freaking" the slow song.Songs like that are what seperated the normal women fans against the freakish ones liek KLKh(?) and Natasha types..Nothiong Compares? ..not even in the running. Intl Lover and Do Me are two different types of songs..both are "freaky".

Adore wins it on this one.

But Adore vs. Do Me Baby? That's tough.

On the one hand you have Adore with its amazing lyrics and breathtaking vocal performance.

On the other hand, you've got the pleading, blatant SEX of Do Me Baby. If you stopped that song at the end of the radio edit, there'd be no competition. But consider the extended album version with lines like "So are you just gonna sit there and watch?" and "I'm so cold...just hold me..." Ooo Boy! Hormone overload!! I couldn't choose...
I've gone to find myself. If I should return before I get back, keep me here.

oh, my bad. i was under the mistaken impression when the original thread-started said "all time favorite ballads" that we were talking about quality songs. since Do Me Baby and International Lover both suck and can't compete with Adore, i was going for songs with a little more meat to them biggrin

The header said "clash of the titans-"Adore vs Intl Lover"--the poster stated that his favorite was Intl Lover today and could change...Do Me baby has as much meat as Call Me and Nothing Compares and its been simmering, so flavorful hehe.

International Lover is a weak song, no matter how you slice it. Possibly the worst song on 1999.
