Strictly Non Adult Ok, for the few young fans at this site, the new generation so to speak, what is it that you like about Prince.....
I think us oldies here need a refreshment of what it was like to be young  If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

Nice, Whitnail. 
What I like about him? Well, his music is different from ALOT of what I have heard. Especially modern music, which I DO like, but alot of it sounds the same. I have never heard anything like some of the shit he whips out. Plus, Prince has so much passion that alot lack. Its not like someone wrote some lyrics and music for him and said "Sing this" I have mad respect for people who write their own shit. I also like the fact he isn't tied to one genre. Even some brilliant people only do one genre. Another thing would be the image he had in the early eighties. I love it, raw, funky, in ur face and sexy. Love it! But my main reason for liking him is that alot of his music is unique. And he's cute. BTW, I'm 16. [Edited 1/12/08 18:34pm] | |

His music is something completely different, unlike anything that I've ever heard before. The easily distinguishable "Prince sound" makes it even more unique. I can't say that I like ALL of his music, but definitely a majority of it. Also, it's awesome that he has 30 years worth of great music to go through, so I always have something new to listen to, unlike many artists today that barely have 3 CDs worth of decent music.
My musical tastes are quite eclectic, so Prince fits into this picture very well. Kinda strange, kinda awesome.

[Edited 1/12/08 18:34pm] very beautifully put, nice to hear it, i was 13 when i discovered Prince and thru out the yrs i have found music far more amazing than that what P does, but i have yet to find an artist or band that compares to him on his level and he was the one that introduced me into the music i love today, alone for that i can thank him If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

I agree ^_^ I get bored with a lot of today's music because a majority of it does sound the same. I also like how he branches out to different genres and his image in the 80s was pretty awesome. He's adorable too! I could list some more reasons why I like him, but you've pretty much summed it all up.

otherwise, continue discussion, my brother just told me, he wants "face down" played at his funeral.., I was like WHAT, poor chap was 9 yrs old when he heard P banging out of my stereo, but last summer we saw Prince together for the first time, fcukin nightmare, we had to go again, N again, N again, but it was cool, was the first time we really shared something together, long live the new generation of fans..... If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

i think wat caught me at first was the way he like sort of a control over the women he was with like in purple rain he jus was like a PIMP to apples but she luved him!!! lol
not saying in a negative way but still then the guitar playing style was next and then the music which everybdy alrdy explained hav u had ur + sign 2 day.
