The "Hits" according to what charted, vs. "The Hits" in the heart of a Prince fan could make a lot of substitutions from your list, only because "The Hits" that exist include most of the songs you have mentioned. If the cd was somewhat duplicated, you have made good choices out of the thousand songs that Prince has, although I would disagree with "Endorphinmachine" being on there....

I would probably keep a handful of known songs, such as, "Do Me Baby" "Adore" "Little Red Corvette" "Purple Rain" and "I wanna be your Lover"
And fill the rest of the cd...with songs that we as fans love...such as, "Starfish and Coffee" "Just as long as were together" "Musicology" Black Sweat" and "Somewhere Here on Earth."
You have listed, "Partyman" "I could never take the place of your man" "Call my name" "A million days" "7" "Damn U" "A Million Days" and "The most beautiful girl in the world." To which I agree should be there...

In addition....I would choose...."Dark" "Reflection" "International Lover" "Mountains" "Same December" "Emale" "She loves me for me" "One kiss at a time" "Spirit" "Love 2 the 9's" "It's about that walk" "Paisley Park" "The morning papers" "The Greatest Romance that's ever been sold" "Sweet baby" "Strollin" "Live 4 Love" "Satisfied" "Trust" "Planet Earth" "Future Baby Mama" "The Ride" and "The Rainbow Children" Whew!
"The Lion Sleeps Tonight...

Yeah why not, but how about a post 93 onwards collection. All of the commercially available hits collections of prince (3 albums) stop at 92 or 93. We would buy them again if the had gems like The Most Beautiful Girl and Black sweat. Also its too soon. Ultimate Prince was only 16 months ago

In the liner notes for 'The Hits/The B-Sides' collection in '93, Alan Leeds wrote "...our wildest imaginations couldn't conjure up what a collection like this might contain in another 15 years.' Hard as it is for me to believe, that 15 years has passed, and Alan was right...none of us could have imagined where his career was going to go. Obviously Prince hasn't had as many hits in the last 15 years, but there's still an interesting body of work to be examined. I'm going to expand your request for 39 songs to 56 optimus, the number of tracks on the original 'Hits/B-Sides.' So, including everything that was a "hit" since '93, here is what that collection might look like 15 years later. I've loosely divided it into 'clean disc'/'dirty disc'/'b-sides disc,' like the original 'Hits/B-Sides' was. While there aren't as many b-sides as there were in '93, there have been lots of rare digital releases and compilation songs, so I've included those. I imagine it would go something like this:

DISC ONE:
1.Musicology
2.The Most Beautiful Girl In The World
3.The Holy River
4.Call My Name
5.Fury
6.Dolphin
7.The One
8.Te Amo Corazon
9.Guitar
10.Betcha By Golly, Wow!
11.Beautiful, Loved, & Blessed
12.Future Baby Mama
13.She Loves Me For Me
14.Cinnamon Girl
15.The Work, Pt. 1
16.One Night Alone
17.One Of Us
18.Gold

DISC TWO:
1.P Control
2.Black Sweat
3.Eye Hate U
4.The Greatest Romance Ever Sold
5.Love Sign
6.Letitgo
7.1+1+1=3
8.U Make My Sun Shine
9.Hot Wit U
10.Come On
11.I Like It There
12.Face Down
13.Lolita
14.A Million Days
15.Dark
16.319
17.Chelsea Rogers
18.Get On The Boat

DISC THREEE:
1.High
2.The United States Of Division
3.2045: Radical Man
4.Cybersingle
5.Space (Universal Love Remix)
6.Magnificent
7.Purple House
8.All Along The Watchtower/The Best Of U (previously unreleased)
9.A Case Of U
10.S.S.T.
11.Brand New Orleans
12.Silver Tongue
13.Underneath The Cream
14.The Song Of The Heart
15.The Daisy Chain
16.Glasscutter
17.Feel Better, Feel Good, Feel Wonderful (complete, previously unreleased)
18.When Will We B Paid?
19.Beautiful Strange
20.F.U.N.K.

Not quite as amazing as the '78-'93 output, but a pretty interesting body of work and a good overview of Prince from '93-'08. I left out tracks from N.E.W.S., because they just didn't seem to fit with these songs and they're incredibly long. Anyway, just an idea of what 'The Hits/The B-Sides, vol. II' might look like!

intresting but 2 be honest do u think an album thats 93 onwards would sell that well(not that im sayin it wouldnt) but i think music companies think of not just the hardcore fans or enthusiasts, they will b thinkin of ppl who may not hav really bothered listen 2 prince but know a handfull of his classic songs(infamous 1s like purple rain, lets go crazy,1999,little red corvette etc blah blah) and when they would pick the 93 onwards collection as u stated and saw that they r missing,do u think they would bother buyin it? id like 2 think they would and 2 b honest i think they would know only a few songs on there(TMBGW would b best know tho in england anyway) but these companies hav a need 2 make money so i really dought they would not include the older songs(unfortunatley),thats my opinion anyway

I would hope there would not be another hits collection.

I sometimes wish that the 1993 collection never happened, it seemed to throw his career off a little. I have always thought the Come/Gold material came out a year too late.

Anyway. I know its fun to speculate hits albums. But I just do not think a hits collections would do the music any justice.

Maybe Prince wants a short hits cd similar to U2's U218 CD.

Musicology
Call My Name
Cinnamon Girl
Reflection

3121
Black Sweat
Beautiful, Loved, and Blessed
Fury

Guitar
Somewhere Here on Earth
Future Baby Mama
The One U Want 2 C
Resolution

Then maybe a new song. SST and Song of the Heart.

That would be one disc based on the last 4 years.

Prince is probably beyond hit albums by now.

Maybe a remastered collection of all the full-length B-sides/Singles would be appealing to me.

I would rather just have to the new music, it keeps getting better.
