Noon rendezvous appreciation

Such a beautiful song... but so sad... pain of being in love/lust...

I don't like the released version very much.
But I love the rehearsal version.

depends on how u look at it, yes sheila recorded the released version but prince did write it and per4m it during the birthday gig at 1st avenue in 84 shrug
man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

The rehearsal version is one of the most beautiful things Prince has ever done. It's unbelievable how good it is.

Prince's Neon Rendezvous, really love this song. Just listened to it today coincedencely. I like the Live 1st Ave. Birthday concert 6.7.84.

The rehearsal performance for the song for the 1st Ave. show sounds alittle different from when it came down to the show performance. The Live version is the best.
Some people think I'm kinda cute
But that don't compute when it comes 2 Y-O-U.

I love the released/Sheila E.'s version just as well as the Prince and The Revolution rehearsal version.

not crazy about sheila e.'s "official" take on the song. it's okay, but the rehearsal version drool, some of the most beautiful music ever made. i wanted to start a (second) thread about the rehearsal version a while ago to ask if anyone knew what he was saying on the last verse before the "sittin' in this cafe...(love)" part. if anyone knows confuse. the live (prince) version is good too, but that rehearsal is just breathtaking for real. sigh

Do you mean this? Right before the guitar solo, right?

"Your words, they intoxicate me
I shiver each time that U speak
How much more can I endure, my love?
The sound of your voice makes me weak"

I broke in the new year 2007/2008 listening to the rehearsal version, lol
the whole rehearsal version thing, is one of my favorite boots of all time, the passion alone in a rehearsal is mindblowing
If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

I have to hear the live version. It must be really good for people to say it's better than the released version. I love the released version.

no, it's after that and the first guitar solo. he says these few somethings, "sittin' in this cafe..." a few times, then another guitar solo. guitar it's always bugged me. sad

highfive it's one of my favorites as well. love the extra-long rocked out version of something in the water and of irresistible bitch and erotic city and that low-key cute version of free. agree it's pretty riveting for just a rehearsal. nod

I think he's saying, "We're all alone in this space, all alone" (x 2). But it's really hard to decipher. Anyway, that's what I sing during that part, even though it doesn't really make total sense with the next line, "Sittin' in this cafe waitin' for my baby."
