..i don't think there is any 'beef'...the lyric says something like 'prince couldn't make me change my name...'
considering the lyrics in general i don't think it's anything to be taken too seriously...

...in the past she said she appreciated a comment that prince made concerning her and timbalaand...

...the video is a lot of fun, i don't think there were any mean spirited intentions in the making of it...missy is great..

Just a thought...what if she meant that she would never be on Prince's bandwagon as far as Artist's Rights are concerned? This is just a passing fancy, for I have no idea what type of record deal she has.

In the song,Missy says "Prince couldn't get me to change my name".Prince made a comment that,if Missy and Timbalind are sick of people stealing their sound,then they shoudl simply change their sound.So,I think Missy is saying "Prince couldn't get me to change my sound,this is ME,and this is the sound that Tim and I are gonna do".I don't think it's a DISS or anything,but that's my interpretation of that lyric.Using the Prince lookalike in the video is for the sole purpose of driving that point home,in a humorous way.

Prince had the most serious influence on Missy/Tim music, their beats and most clearly their lyrics are STRONGLY influenced by Prince other than any other artist out there.

Not 2 mention, Missy is hopelessly in LOVE with Prince(As a fan of course) she praised him countless times. There's no beef at all and that Prince look alike is nothing 2 worry about.

Missy has no beef at all with Prince. She adores Prince. She wanted this song and video to be fun and that's all. It's just entertainment.

The reference about "even Prince couldn't get me to change my name" can also be looked at another way. Notice that Prince always changed the name of his female proteges. Carmen Electra, Vanity, Appolonia, etc... those were not their real names. And now here comes Missy trying to convey that she is so tough now that even Prince couldn't get her to change her name. Get it?

I just saw the video today. I dunno what to think but that was somewhat of a very cheep immatation of Prince. I know nothing about Prince and her, but I think that he himself would have been much better.
